Yeah, you read that right. Rocky Horror, bitches! Almost two weeks ago, my brother told me his college, COMMUNITY college, was doing a midnight, live, showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show. Needles to say, I was thrilled -chilled and fulfilled as well-. I already knew three facts about the show. You HAVE to go in costume, I LOVED the movie, and there was a prop bag! I spent about, oh let's say, thirty seconds, decided who I was going to go as. Columbia. My mum was Columbia thirty years ago! Of course I chose her, I already had half the costume! Well, yesterday, I headed over to the mall and bought the rest, which was a collar and fishnets. By the time I got home, it was only about two thirty. I had nine more hours before we were going to leave! So, logically, I got dressed. A dazzling gold coat, sparkling corset, fishnet stockings, A black collar, black short shorts, short white socks, and a pair of Mary-Janes. It looked something like this: [x] Minus the hat, bow-tie, and sparkles on the shoes. Next came the waiting game, and what a game it was. It seemed every time I glanced at the clock it was only five minutes later than last time. At around ten thirty, I got up to do my make up and hair. Which came out to look like this, minus the funky eyebrows. Well, by the time I finished that, I looked like a miniature Columbia. Totally sweet. It was also time to leave. My mum couldn't come, seeing as she was elsewhere, but my brother took me. He didn't go in costume, the lameo. Getting there was all anxious chatter. When we finally arrived, I looked around to see -to my dismay- NO ONE in costume. We made our way through the maze of hallways until we reached our destination, the Auditorium. The pre-show was all sexual gags and noises. Two of my brother's friends just happened to be there. Following down the line of coincidences, three more of my brother's friends randomly showed up. We all waited eagerly for the show to begin. It was interesting, really. They played the movie on a large screen behind the stage performance, which was delightful in it's own right. I had one complaint, I'm a better Columbia than the girl they had would ever be. As everyone who's ever heard of or been to a midnight showing of Rocky Horror knows, it's very interactive. In fact, you stand out if you're not yelling vulgarities and witticisms at the stage. For example, in one scene, Magenta -a maid- has a facial expression so that her eyes appear to be big black holes. During this scene some shouted out, "If anyone sees Magenta's eyes, could you return them please?" Which, obviously, draws a large amount of laughter from the rest of the audience. It was a total blast, I've never had that much fun watching a movie or a play, let alone both at the same time. After the show, we found out why all of my brother's friends were there, one of them -the only one we hadn't known was there- was in the show. As Riff Raff. Awesome. So we went down to say hi and he suggested that I audition for next time. I only chuckled, though that would be fun. On our way out, many people smiled at me, now that they knew who I was. We were almost out of the place when the guy who had played Eddie stopped me. Again, if you know Rocky Horror, you know that Columbia and Eddie were a couple. So, he stopped to hug me, compliment my costume and take a picture with me. It was AWESOME! I was smiling soooooooo wide! When we finally got home, it was almost two thirty in the morning. That was the craziest thing I've every been too, and I'm probably never going to forget it. I can't wait to do it again! Well, 'til we meet again, ~Rose.
PS: the other main characters are Frank -N- Furter, Brad Majors, Janet Weiss, and Rocky.
