It didn’t take long for Ann and Auron to get back to the crossroads and take the path towards the Calm Lands. Ann was also still distracted with her scheming against Leblanc to notice much outside of fighting fiends as Auron was taking the lead anyway. It wasn't until she felt a gush of wind did she get pulled out of what she was planning.
Ann~Oh wow. So we're here? I didn't expect this. It's huge!
Auron~Yes Ann...Although it looks a bit different than when I last came here...
Ann~How so?
Auron~There was only one shop, and there weren't all of these vendors
Ann~Then things have changed a lot since you've been here last,aa like the girls' said?
Auron~Yeah...Come on. Let's see what they got.
Ann held onto his arm as they continued walking down the hill
Ann~I can still ride chocobos, right?
Auron~You should be able to…If not then we'll come back another time and you can try again
Ann~But I don't want a next time…
Auron~Quit being a brat, Ann. Anyways if we stick around here, we won't be able to go on the mountain right after this, and then see the ruins
Ann~How’re the ruins like?
Auron~Worse than where you live
Ann~It's that bad?
Auron~It's been in bad shape for 1000 years, so it could only get worse
She hummed and nodded
Ann~Good point..

They eventually got to the main tent where they were able to shop and rest.
Ann~So, what now?
Auron~Information. Go stock up on some items and see if there's any new weapons
Ann giggled~Weapons
She walked off to the other side of the tents where she saw some items on display while Auron asked around.
They sat together after a while of browsing and talking to other patrons.
Ann~So?
Auron~Those air skiffs we saw are games that takes one of the two types of credits
Ann~Oh…So it's like an arcade minus the huge building and electricity
Auron nodded at her assessment. She didn't seem to have an interest in entertainment like that, so was surprised she even knew about it. He assumed she only knew about carnival games.
Ann~Hey, where's that place where you could fight fiends that you find?
Auron~Over that way, near the Gagazet path
She giggled in excitement
Ann~Cool…Do you think it's still in business?
Auron~Dunno...While we're heading there you could probably see some Malboros
Ann~What's that?
Auron~You'll see eventually
Ann~I hate it when you do that...
Auron chuckled
Auron~I thought you liked surprises, honey.
Ann~I wanna be prepared if it's tough though!
Auron~Prepare as well as you can, like you always do. I'll be here to back you up.
She pouted
Ann~Okay, thanks, daddy.
Auron~Do you want to stick around to play some games or train a while?
Ann~No thanks. I want to keep going.
Auron~Alright. Lunch first.

Some hours later they got to the entrance of the fiend lair. Ann crossed her arms and pouted.
Ann~Dammit all…
Auron~Yeah…Too bad it isn't here anymore…It was real fun fighting all those fiends throughout spira.
Ann~Can we go in though?
Auron shrugged and headed in
Ann~Why do you always do that?!
She bounded to him and hit him
Auron~Do what?
Ann~Give no answer and just go
He hummed in thought
Auron~Sometimes it's just faster to do things than explain. I always did that to Tidus too.
Ann~Well don't do it to me!
Auron ruffled her hair as they went further inside
Ann~Dad!!!
She hit him again, making him chuckle. Inside, they heard chocobos and saw one running away. Ann peeked out to see where it went but got knocked down from the other direction.
Clasko~Hey, I'm really sorry about that. Are you okay?
He moved off of Ann and helped her sit up.
Ann~Yeah, thanks. But why was that chocobo running?
Clasko~She doesn't want to be examined
Auron helped them up.
Clasko~Oh, thank you…Sir Auron!
Auron~Hello Clasko. I see you retired from the Chocobo Knights
Clasko~Yes, I did. I'm a chocobo breeder now!
Ann~What's a chocobo knight?
Clasko~They're Crusaders that ride on chocobos. It's actually pretty hard to become a knight…I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself. I'm Clasko
Ann~Ann. Nice to meet you. Dad says that this place used to have fiend?
Clasko~Dad?
He looked at her, then at Auron, confused
Auron~She's my daughter.
He looked back and forth between the two a few more times. Other than the scar, he didn't see much of a resemblance between the two, but Sir Auron's face was mostly covered too.
Ann~Don't ask how I got my scar. You wouldn't believe it anyways. So, what can we do here if we can't fight fiends?
Clasko nodded slowly and signaled them to follow to show them around the area, explaining that they can train their own chocobo.
Ann~Do baby chocobos bite? Are they pretty big?
Clasko~The younger ones will, but they're like the size of a blitzball. That's an interesting question though…
Ann~Someone said I was as cute as a murderous baby chocobo. I wanted to know how lethal they were
He stared at her and Auron smacked her head.
Auroon~Too much again. Chocobos will not be a part of any scheming you have planned either. Your own wits and tools only.
Ann sighed and nodded.
Ann~Yes, father…
Clasko~Should I know?
Auron~No. Just don't agree to anything she won't elaborate on.
Ann~Stop revealing my tells!
