we'll look up and smile at the stars we never had
then look down and shed the tears on the pages we never read.
but through it all, you know as well as i, we enjoyed our ignorance
because in our ignorance, we knew more than anyone else ever would
just by losing ourselves in the worlds in each others eyes.
we'll sigh as the clocks tick out of tune, a symphony, a clair de lune.
but we're confined together in an endless white room
no place to escape to but inside ourselves.
you'll look and glance at possibilities, and beg and scream and yell as you scratch your life away at the locked door, scratch your life away at nothing.
