Firstly, no flaming. The worst thing you can do is insult someone because they're ignorant, stupid, or even no reason at all. This is not only SPAM, but it is also REPORTABLE because after one person flames, more and more people do, so it only gets worse until the forums get really spammy and grouchy (example: GD)
Secondly, Don't post in trolling threads (AKA: "feeding the troll" wink . If you see a thread "SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE IN BOOK SIX" and it wrecks the book for you, there are two important reasons why you shouldn't post in it: You bump it to the top of the forum so more people see it and you give the troll the reaction they're looking for. This goes for ANY inflamatory thread that is written to get a response.
Thirdly, do not hack or troll, and generally just follow the rules and guidelines and TOS. This should be a no-brainer, but it unfortunately isn't. These rules are here for a REASON, and breaking them is working against that reason.
Fourthly, do not be conceeded (put yourself abouve others). If you try to do this, you eventually just make people want to be popular. I'm quite well-known in the GCD, but I wouldn't really be known as a figurehead because if someone wants positive attention, I give it to them. This is a self-sacrifice that everyone should make. It helps the community as a whole.
2. Misplaced topics:
When you see a misplaced topic, please consult the following flowchart:

Posting in misplaced threads: This is a difficult section to follow, but knowing a few main points should help you out.
-Do not tell them to re-post the thread in another forum. When the misplaced topic is moved, and if they've already posted the thread in the forum where it is moved to, that makes the misplaced topic a repeat topic, thus meaning it goes to the recycling bin forum. You can help prevent this by saying something along the lines of, "For future reference, this belongs in the [insert right forum here] forum.]
-Make sure you're sending them to the right place. If you post telling someone who's asking, lets say, if you knew any good football plays, then don't send them to the chatterbox, send them to the sports forum.
-Provide a link. Seriously, what does "CHATTERBOX!!" mean to someone who's never been on gaia before? It's just a random word to them. xp Provide a link for future referance.
-Always include something on topic in your post. Even if the thread is misplaced, when it is corrected and put into the correct forum you'll want something on topic in your post or it'll be spam. Spam is bad (unless it's in the chatterbox).
