God background: Kwan yin (Chinese: 觀音; pinyin: guān yīn; Wade-Giles: kuan-yin) is the bodhisattva associated with compassion as venerated by East Asian Buddhists, usually as a female. The name Guanyin is short for Guanshi'yin (觀世音, pinyin: guānshì yīn, Wade-Giles: kuan-shih yin) which means "Observing the Sounds (or Cries) of the World".Kwan Yin is the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion.
Human Background: Kwan Yin is one of the few gods that started off as humans and was first born as a young and mute human girl in a poor remote village in China. She was a Buddhist who through great love and sacrifice during life, had earned the right to achieve immortality after death.
Kwan Yin was an orphan who worked as a slave for a middle-class business man who treated her badly, although he did give her a small hut to live in by herself near a river. She later fell in love with Lei Kun who fell to earth in his broken mortal form. She forced him to live in her hut so she could treat his wounds although he was very reluctant. A few weeks into their meeting, he gave her back her voice, but she still refused to talk. When foreign militia raided, burned, and massacred the villagers, Kwan Yin was killed trying to save Lei Kun after she confessed her love for him. After showing him genuine kindness, generosity, and sacrifice, the god returned her feelings and gave her immortality.

Lei Kun and Ao Shun had a fight in which Lei Kun was ultimately defeated and fell to Earth in his mortal form, badly wounded and on the brink of death. (Dragon gods, gods, and demon kings can kill gods). He fell to a forest with huge, skyscraping trees and it seemed that the place was desolate. Lei Kun couldn't move at all and was slowly bleeding to death until he was found by a poor mute girl named Kwan Yin who took care of him even though he tried to scare her away. She eventually forced him to come into her home which was in a poor remote village in the outskirts of China.
