Everyone got bitten by the grunny madness!Now that it's over, it's interesting reading over people's opinions on the even in the feedback forum. There are a huge number of people complaining about various parts of the event, with a few loners saying how they had fun.
My opinion? It's the same old thing of great idea, not-so-great execution. But then again it's hard to predict what will happen or how people will react to things, so I don't blame the admins/developers/mods at all.
I supposed they could have logically assumed that most people would get tired of bumping once they got their two items, with a few hardcores staying on for the full zombie effect. Bump a little, get some cute slippers, then have fun and party down with the other merry-makers. Maybe that would have worked a little better if it was made more obvious that there were no more items after the slippers, and the coveted grunny plushie wasn't actually an item.
And I wouldn't have predicted the way that the ignore list was used to segregate people with different grunny counts. Really, is the zombie effect really worth being such an a** over? What difference does it make if the person who posted before you was one or one hundred lower than you? I had fun going to those threads and poking fun at those people who were taking the game so seriously. Which consequently got me ignored by a few people (one was even kind enough to send me a PM saying she would un-ignore me for only 1k rolleyes )
Well whatever, I had a great time. I decided to try out an art freebie thread to get away from all the bumping and actually have some fun with some people. I didn't get to the crazy 500 grunnies because I was too busy drawing or talking to people, but I think we experienced more of the true spirit of the event than the others. If I had spent the entire time bumping and obsessing over grunnies, I'm sure I'd feel a lot less satisfied than I do now, and I would have come out without making the new friends that I did. This has been the best event I've attended for me and I hope I made it fun for the people who were hanging around my thread too wink I'm going to try and do this at every event, so watch out for me at Christmas!
