Fashion Assassin: Things to Know
There's going to be a LOT of stuff in here at one point, I'm sure.
You're standing in a marquee, don't tell me I'm broken.
I'm Not Broken

Five care-free know-nothings,
stand in a line.
They all sit there waiting,
until five becomes nine.

The line keeps on growing,
we'll never fully know,
Why life keeps on going,
we make it up as we go.

Nine is now ninety,
a full congregation,
worshiping the "almighty"
distributing damnation,
to all who will listen,
I find it quite sad.
People seeking foundation,
is life really that bad?

But the truth, straight from me,
is you're making things worse.
Causing people to die.
Causing people to hurt.

Have you all forgotten
what you God stands for?
I thought it was love,
Take a number at the door.

And join right in,
with the dancing seam
splitting in all directions,
of a broken regime.

I'm stuck in the line,
and trust me I never wanted it.
I'm there all the time,
it's like Hell, I'll admit.

I'm sitting there now,
only physically so,
watching people 'fake smile',
it's a quid pro quo.

They point their long fingers,
drawing attention away,
from the "sin" that still lingers,
but at least they're not "gay".

"Not right with God,"
they'll say with disgust.
Their company nods,
I might just combust.

It is I who have reason to feel such disgust!
I sit here, cast out, like a bent subway token,
Is being just like you really such a must?
I promise you, lady, I'm really not broken.

Please stop flinging your poorly writ verses at me,
It's unbearable now, and I can't lie unspoken
I breaking it now, that damnable marquee
So, please, don't fix me, I promise I'm not broken.

Life outside the line,
isn't all too strange
I answer to life,
it requires some change.

To deroot yourself from all you believed,
all the promises made,
all the people decieved,
But life is much better,
to a certain degree,
so do what I've done,
jump out of your marquee.

Notes from me:

Okay, so the marquee isn't God or religion or any of that. In my case it is, but we all face lines that we jump in early in life, and later realize it isn't where we want to be. This poem has a lot to do with how I've been feeling lately, and I really needed to get it out. It's a bit messy, but it's how I feel, and that's why I write. I hope you like it, and it makes you think twice about where, or what, your marquee in life is.
