How should I begin?
I just don't know where to start . . .
My life's a novel engraved deeply
into my beating heart.
I suppose that's as good a start
that I could hope to use.
I'm a broken, paperback tale
that deals with mindless issues.
That's why I can't tell you
the one thing I need to say.
As soon as I think of you holding me,
I think of you thrusting me away.
I've been placed under a curse-
you see, no matter what I do
my pages get all wrinkled
and unreadable to you.
What if you choose to read me,
but then want to flip the page?
I'm so afraid of what you'll think
when you realize I'm in disarray.
I'm not an amazing story
that has a happy ending.
My plot changes every second,
the message that I'm sending.
I'm not an open book,
that I could never be.
But I'll tell you this-
you've become a part of me.
You're in my story now,
You belong here in this tale.
I can't erase your entrance,
If I tried, then I would fail.
But I won't . . .
There's no way I could.
Although my story's ending
has not yet been seen through,
there's one line that can be seen by all,
and that's simple . . .
