I am the secret keeper. People whom I barly know come and tell me their problems, their secrets. I know of Courtney and her mother's meth addiction. I know about Janey's older boyfriend. Jamie's issues with people making fun of her in her old school. Karen's worries about her friend. Sarah's father's death. Caylynn's alchohloic father. I know these thing and others. I don't ask to be told these things, I just am. I don't hold the world on my shoulders, I don't even hold the school on my shoulders. But I hold those with problems, with issues. I take their burdens and carry them with me to the point of driving me insane. Their problems have become mine. Their knowledge, is mine. Their depression is mine. But their happiness, that is theirs and theirs alone. That is the one thing they do not share with me. I carry all of these burdens, plus my own. And quite frankley, I can't carry much more. So load me down with your problems, but be warned. Soon, soon I will crack. All of your burdens will be releesed from my shoulders and you will have to find a new person to load down with your fears and your worries and your secrets. But until then, give them to me. I will carry them, and I will keep them. Until the day I die.
