Wells we're studying poetry in L.A. now which is awesome cuz I love poetry. 3nodding So we got this poem as part of an assignment and I thought it was really amazing. 4laugh

Valentine

Not a red rose or a satin heart.
I give you an onion.
It is a moon wrapped in brown paper.
It promises light
like the careful undressing of love.
Here.
It will blind you with tears
like a lover.
It will make your reflection
a wobbling photo of grief.
I am trying to be truthful.
Not a cute card or a kissogram.
I give you an onion.
Its fierce kiss will stay on your lips,
possessive and faithful
as we are,
for as long as we are.
Take it.
Its platinum loops shrink to a wedding ring,
if you like.
Lethal.
Its scent will cling to your fingers,
cling to your knife.

And the actual assignment was to take certain lines where words had been underlined and come up with our own words. whee So here's mine.

Black Love

Not a pink tulip or a candy kiss.
I give you a black rose.
It is a raven soaring into the night sky.
It promises eternity
like the blissful slumbering of Death.
Here.
It will stab you with pain
like a partner.
It will make your hands
a bleeding gash of agony.
I am trying to be honest.
Not an e-card or a balloon.
I give you a black rose.
Its morbid beauty will alight upon your eyes,
alluring and passionate
as we are,
for as long as we are.
Take it.
Its delicate petals bloom to an infinate love
if you like.
Breathless.
Its scent will cling to your Heart,
cling to your Soul.

Yeah sweatdrop it's not as good, I know. But honestly, what do you think of both of them? whee
