The Demon's Halo
Chapter 5
My heart seemed to stop. I could'nt breathe.
"Pr-Prise!" I studdered. He raised his hand and yanked the dagger out of me. I screamed loudly.
"Dawn?!" Damu yelled and I heard him running up the stairs.
"Damu!!" I screamed holding my side which was now bleeding excedingly.
Damu kicked the door open as Prise turned around and seemed to roar at him.
Without looking at me, Damu attacked Prise. And as I forced myself to watch, I could'nt help but wonder why Damu wasn't using his powers.
Damu was standing over Prise, dagger in his hand, hand closed onto his throat, and anger flaring in his eyes. He raiseed the dagger to Prise's chest.
My heart pounded as I watched Damu get ready to kill the man I loved.
"Let him do it! He's not Prise anymore! He's not the man I love anymore! Let him do it!" I told myself. But just as Damu went to finish him off, I screamed.
"Don't do it Damu!!!"
At hearing my scream Damu looked over at me. Even though it was only for a second, that's all it took for Prise to kick Damu off of him.
Damu hit the wall, dropping the dagger onto the ground beside Prise.
Ignoring me, Damu went for the dagger, but he didn't get there in time, Prise was holding it again and in all but two seconds, Prise pinned Damu to the wall and stabbed the dagger into his chest.
"No!!!" I screamed, just as more blood oozed out of my own wound.
I began to feel dizzy and slid to the floor.
Damu cried out in pain as Prise drove the dagger deeper into his chest and through the wall behind him.
"Do not. Interfear. With my work!" Prise whispered as he punched Damu hard in the stomach. Prise was definatly not Prise anymore, his voice sounded evil, like the voice they gave most demons in those old movie. Then, Prise turned to look at me.
My heart froze as I looked into the pitch black eyes of the man I loved, slowly making his way towards me, a vial smirk on his face.
"Damu!" I breathed and looked over at him. His eyes were closed as blood dripped down his body. My eyes widened.
"He can't die! He's already dead!" I though in horror. "Can he?!"
Then Prise lunged for me, I screamed and dodged hitting my head against the bedpost. Everything went blurry for a moment, and when things came back into perspective Prise was over me, and his hands were around my throat.
I began kicking, punching, I even tried biting him, but nothing would release his hold. I began getting even more dizzy. I began thinking fighting was usless, I was going to die anyways. The, something caught my eye. On top of the bureau, I saw a plate, and a fork!
"Prise always ate in his room!" I remembered. I looked over at Damu, he was still unconscious. Even though I was blue in the face, I somehow found the strength to continue to fight. Finally, I was able to loosen one of his hands and kick him off me. Prise stumbled a bit, but recovered quickly. Not waiting to catch my breath I crawled over to the bureau and grabbed the fork.
When Prise lunged for me again I stabbed the fork into his neck.
As much as I pained me to, I did it.
Prise yelled and fell back onto the bed trying to get it out.
I got to my feet and ran to Damu.
"Damu!" I snapped. He didn't move. "Damu!!" I said louder.
I looked at the dagger. It was literally pinning him to the wall.
I clenched my teeth ad pulled it out. I saw his face flinch a little, so I knew he was still alive. "Damu! Wake up! Please! Wake up!" I panted, still weak as my wound began hurting much more. Prise screamed and I saw him yank the fork out, more blood gushing from his neck.
"Not the artery.... lucky me!" Prise gasped and lunged at me again.
"Damu!!!" I screamed and heard a crash, then, all went black.

"What......." I mumbled, sliting my eyes open. I was on a bed...... in my room!
I sat up, wincing at the sharp pain in my side. I looked, I was bandaged up.
The door opened. Duke walked in.
"Duke!" I gasped. He smield slightly, but his eyes were still nervous.
"Hey Dawn." He sat on the bed beside me.
"What happened?..... Where's Damu?! Is he alright?!" I asked.
Duke looked down at his hands. And at that moment, I knew something was wrong.
"What happened?!" I breathed.
"Damu still hasn't woken up yet." Duke said quietly.
My heart stopped.
"He....."
"He's alive, but he's in a coma." Duke interupted me.
I was silent.
"But how can he go into a coma? He's dead already! He's an angel!" I said.
"Yes, but in human form. He may never die, Dawn. But his human form can." He explained. I relized he was right and remained silent after that.
"I'll go get Kirai." Duke stood up and left.
Soon after, Kirai walked in, or should I say, limped in.
"You're hurt!" I gasped.
"I'm fine. It's you and Damu I'm worried about." She said.
She sat down where Duke sat.
"So, what exactly happened?" I asked quietly.
"Well, I had a bad feeling after you two had been gone for so long. So I went to go check on you two. I know, it was stupid and dangerous, but I had the worst feeling about it. I looked through the window and saw you getting attacked by that demon and Damu on the floor beside you, covered in blood, It was horrifying. So I broke through the window and attacked the demon. I took care of him, then I took you and Damu back here." Kirai said.
"Did you kill him?! The demon?!" I gasped. Kirai sighed.
"No. He got away from me." She said. I sighed in relief.
"I still don't understand though, why didn't Damu use his powers?" I asked after a long thought.
"He's been using too much power lately. He's getting weaker." Kirai told me.
I was silent. She patted my shoulder.
"He'll be fine. I'll make sure to that. Just get more rest Dawn. You had a rough day." Then she stood up, and walked out of my room.
