Spiderwick is a film co-filmed by Paramount pictures and Nickelodeon studios. The story centers around Jared, a twin brother and disgruntled family member who happens upon the secret fantasy book, The Spiderwick's field guide, after his father left his family and forced his mother, himself, sister, and twin brother to move from New York City to the middle of no where, or Authur Spiderwick's old home, which is left to Jared's mother since she is the only living heir. Once Jared discovers the book, his whole family eventually become part of the entire struggle to survive and protect the book from the angry ogre who wants to seize the book and destroy the world. I would rate this movie an 8. It does have the infamous Nickelodeon green "goo" when a monster is killed, but not as much as you would think, probably because it was co-filmed by Paramount pictures. smile
