This month's Donation Items are the Whip of Fire and the Whip of Ice.

Whip it good!
Snap Judgement? I can see a lot of sex-crazed avatars out there that will use this and abuse this item. I mean, check out my current oufit! I look like a damn bondage master from Hell! Oh well, at least it isn't a multi-quip like the last two months' items.
Cool Whip?
Since both whips are generally the mirror opposite of each other, I'm going to do something different and critique both at the same time.
There are two modes for these little weapons. The first mode is the usual hand-held mode. Here, you can equip one or two in a various combinations. Each position of the hand pretty much gives you a new version of the whips. On the background hand while it is down, the whip is at rest. When brought to the foreground hand, the whip looks to be about ready to strike as it coils from behind your avatar's back and around to the front. Switching back to the background hand in the "held" position, the whip does the same motion as the previous, only this time it comes from the other side. Both of the "fist" positions show a coiled up whip ready for storage or as a warning to would-be slaves and enemies. The last position with the foreground arm out makes you look like you're bringing your whip straight down to give someone a very harsh lashing.
Are you still wondering why I think this item is going to be abused by sexually frustrated users (such as myself)?
The second mode is the same idea but different depending on the item. Both items in their second mode form a tail. This tail is a nice replacement/substitute for the Devil Tail from long ago. It won't bring the price down for questers that much, but it's definately cheaper. The thing is, as far as looks go, you still see the whip wrapped around your avatar. While the Whip of Fire does a better job of supplying a tail, the fact you have to deal with the neck-tie-like handle rather annoys me. I would have rather have it somewhat hidden like with the Whip of Ice. Unfortunately, the Whip of Ice doesn't really form a tail that looks like all the other tails in Gaia. What's different about it? Well, nothing really, except for the fact it is on the opposite side of where it should be.
Whiplash!
Overall, I'm glad they went back to the old "Same item, different modes" system for this month instead of the "It's not only a hat, but a belt and a shirt!" way of the previous months. Yes, you can buy up to four of these whips, but there is really no need for it. Both whips are fairly even, but the Whip of Fire just barely squeaks by since it does a better job of being the sub for the Devil Tail.
In any event, I appreciate Lanzer, VO, and l0cke for going back to the old system of Donation items. But I think this month's item was a mistake. I'm expecting a lot of S&M and BDSM thread to be popping up in the Chatterbox soon (if they haven't already) as a result of this month's items.
