Nothing lasts forever, thus everything in this life is impermanent, and when we try to attach ourselves to something or someone in this life we bring suffering to ourselves. Attachment is the main thing in this life that causes us suffering. Once we can realize this, and detach ourselves from that which we cling to, then we can attain Enlightenment.
