Hey everyone!
cool Summer Vacation is here at last! YAY!!! cool
Unfortunately mine is on hold due to
me taking art summer school... crying
Aw well, don't worry I didn't fail that class or anything so no need
to be concerned...heheh. sweatdrop
But Hey! This month's spotlight series is....
"Special A" or simply "S.A."
So this series was created by Minami Maki
and the story (manga) is absolutely hilarious!

This is Minami-sensei's second work (I think) her first being
Kimi wa Gaarufurendo (aka, You're my Girlfriend)
ANYWAYS....
I started reading the manga after I started watching the anime,
and I had been keeping my eye on this anime several months before
it was released. And it didn't disappoint.
This series is about a young high schooler named, Hanazono Hikari
whose only goal is to defeat her arch rival, Takishima Kei.
Why you ask?
Well it turns out that in the past when young Hikari was in her prime time
of her own pride;
(meaning that she was a strong young girl and caught a robber...)
Kei showed up and beat her fairly quickly.
To top it off, Kei stated that she wasn't so great.
This lead to Hikari growing up with her only goal in life is to defeat Kei.
So, she managed to get into his super rich school,
and enter into the Special A class.
Now about the S.A. class, this class consists of the 7 smartest students in the school.
The rankings being:
1) Takishima Kei- Oldest son of a CEO of the Takishima Corp.
2) Hanazono Hikari- Daughter of a Carpenter. (And a dense idiot)
3) Yamamoto Jun- Son of a famous music producer and singer and is Megumi's younger twin brother. Suprisingly he has no talent in music...yet he loves it
4) Yamamoto Megumi- Daughter of a talented vocalist and producer and is jun's older twin sister. Unfortuneately has no musical talent what so ever....but loves it.
5) Karino Tadashi- Son of the director of the school and likes Akira's cooking. Tadashi tends to get beaten up by Akira and Kei due to his careless comments and thoughtless actions/behavior.
6) Toudou Akira- Daughter of the owner of an airline company who loves Hikari and cute girls. She hates Kei even though they are childhood friends and tends to hit Tadashi alot. Otherwise, she loves cooking and having her tea time! blaugh
7) Tsuji Ryuu- Son of the CEO of a sports company and is an complete animal lover. He is very protective/close to the twins and has been ever since they were young. He's ranked 7th all the time since he is constantly worried about the twins's studies.
Now back to the story ^_^
So as you can see,
Hikari is ranked SECOND
and
Kei is ranked FIRST.
This frustrates Hikari to no end since Kei doesn't let Hikari live it down.

In response to Hikari's undying stubborness and need to win,
She constantly challenges Kei to "battles"
wether it be who can get the highest grade on a test
or simply to who can execute more moves in a boxing fight...
In the end, Kei always comes out victorious.
However, there is a twist.
Kei, is considered an all around genius
and he is known for his good looks
and his smooth, stoic, and cool attitude.
heart Yet he has loved Hikari. heart
He has had a crush on her ever since they first met
when he first beat her.
And he doesn't deny his love for her.
When Hikari is in any type of danger,
Kei looses his cool and becomes frantic.
He is also prone to do many acts of lovey-dovey things to Hikari. heart
In fact, all of the other S.A. members know of his crush
besides Hikari.

However as the story progresses,
their relationship with each other seems to take turns for the better. whee
Hikari slowly begins to like Kei yet she's too dense to
figure that out and poor Kei just keeps trying.

The story is great and the characters are just hilarious.
The side characters in the series also have thier own tales
heart to tell of and comedy love is just in the air. XD
Special A the anime started in April 2008 and is planned to have 24 episodes.
I love this series and I find myself constantly finding myself chuckling
in each episode. blaugh
