I was always told that when death is upon you that your life flashes before your eyes. What complete nonesense! I've been struggling against death for hours and nothing special has happened to me.
I sigh with difficulty. My lungs heave as I try to suppress a bout of coughs. I squeeze my eyes tight, disgusted with myself. What a mess! I can't help wondering how things might have turned out differently. I begin to do something I had vowed not to do ever again. I thought of home.
