The Lost Demon
Chapter 4
"So, what do you say Dawn?" Damu whispered into my ear. His tuoch sent shivers up my spin.
"No." I whispered.
Damu frowned.
"No?"
"No! I don't even know you!" I snapped.
Damu stood up and smiled at me.
"I love a challenge." Damu sneered with a smirk and suddenly dissapeared.
My heart was pounding.
"He was a real demon!" I thought. At first my first thought was,
"Demons are real?! What if he hurts me?" then I thought.
"Demons are real! And one has the hots for me! Woo hoo!"
"I'm gonna see if a demon can resist being teased." I whispered.
"Miss Dawn, you're awake?" The doctor walked in.
"Oh, yeah, I just woke up. How's Prise?" I asked.
"He's doing fine. I called your cousin Duke. He's on his way here now." Doctor said.
I sighed and lied my head back on the pillow.
"Are you too hot Dawn? Want me to take the blanket off? You're face is red."
"No, I'm fine." I said. Huh? Must've been blushing. Oh well.
Then I saw Duke outside my room with a concerned look.
The doctor opened the door. Duke nodded to the doctor and ran over to my bed.
"Are you alright Dawn? I got here as soon as I heard!" Duke sighed looking at my arm.
"I'm fine Duke." I whispered.
"Who did this to you?" Duke asked.
"His name is Jaden." I sighed.
"Jaden? Figures." Duke sat in the chair beside me.
"Did you know Prise is here as well?" I asked.
"Yeah, I ran into his parents in the hall. I heard he took some pretty mean hits huh?"
"Yeah, broken ribs, fingers, his arm is crushed and he has a deep cut in is head.
I wanna see him, but the doctor refuses to let me out of this bed." I said.
"And he has a point. You get into enough trouble. Besides, we can't take the risk of you falling on that arm." Duke smirked at the image of my falling.
I threw the pillow at him.
He laughed and threw it back. It landed beside my feet.
"Nice pass, Duke! No wonder they kicked you off the football team!" I laughed and grabbed the pillow.
Duke glared at me, but smiled.
"Maybe."
"Excuse me? Duke?" The nurse walked in.
"Yeah?"
"Prise would like to talk to Dawn for a moment."
Duke looked at me, stood up and left.
A moment later, they led Prise in.
My heart stopped. His arm was in a cast like mine, his head was stitched up and he was in a wheelchair.
"Prise..." I whispered.
They left Prise and me alone.
"Hey, how you doing Dawn? Feeling better?" Prise asked smiling.
"Look at you Prise! You're all beat up...." I whispered tears welling up near my ducts.
"Don't start crying Dawn! You'll make me upset." Prise said.
I didn't want that, so i tried as hard as I could to hold back the tears.
"Did it hurt?" I asked quietly.
"Yeah, but it was worth it if you're alright." Prise smiled at me.
"What a kind smile...." I thought.
"Hey Dawn? Are you alright? Your face is red. You hot?" Prise asked.
"What?" I thought. I was blushing!
"Oh my God! I know what's going on! I'm falling in love with Prise!" I reliezed.
"Dawn?" He asked.
I looked at him."I'm fine Prise. I've never been better now that you're here!"
I smiled, reached over and hugged him softly.
When I pulled back he was smiling.
"So, how long you gonna stay in here?" Prise asked.
"Nurse told me I'd be getting out tomarrow." I told him.
"Lucky, I'm getting out in two days." Prise said.
I gasped.
"But, what am I going to do in school tomarrow?! I need you!" I said.
"Just stay away from people and you'll be fine." Prise said.
I was silent.
