The last time I had a nightmare that made me react physically, I was being chased by various raptor-type dinosaurs with Bart Simpson (don't ask) around construction ruins and when I woke up, I turned on every light in the apartment. I was about 12 years old I think. It didn't effect me too badly in the long term. Those are still my favorite dinosaur species.
A couple of years before that, I dreamed my pet turtle was getting crushed to death... and my turtle died of a strange disease a week later.... I was.... kind of numb about that one...
I haven't really had any nasty dreams that deeply affected me since then, but once in a while, I wake up with mixed reactions to dreams... I'm pretty sure I have a weird condition about prophetic dreaming... but it's hard to prove since there's such odd things in my dreams.
