A fork in the road,
What am I to do?
I am rooted to the ground
With utter indecision.
I look one way, then the next,
Still clueless as to which way to go.
One leads east, on leads west,
But each is marked with suffering.
I have reached an impasse,
A stalemate, if you will.
My mind is a complete blank,
My thoughts, obscured.
For once in this life,
I know not what to do.
I stare into the distance,
Waiting and watching
For the hand of fate
To point me in the right direction.
Yet, there is no right way;
There is no solution, no panacea,
To assuage my fears.
The wind blows past me, and
I shrug my shoulders.
I know what to do.
I know where to go.
I walk straight down the middle,
Paving my own road, forging my own fate,
As I go.
