The First Vampire Cat
Chapter 12
I watched him run away, and I could've sworn I saw tears running down his cheeks.
I knew it was pointless to run after him, he'd just run away again. I sunk to my knees, feeling confused. My life has never been this mixed up.
"Why did he run away from me?" I whispered.
"Maybe he doesn't love me the way I love him!" I thought, my heart pounding.
I couldn't take it just sitting beside his puddle of blood, I stood up and descided to go look for Vex.
I walked through the town to the hotel we were staying at.
"Vex? You here?" I called. I walked around the appartment. He was no where to be found. I left the hotel.
It was gonna be dark soon, I've never felt so alone.
"Vex, where are you...." I whispered, feeling sorry that he heard my confession, suddenly, I heard his voice.
"Who are you?"
At first, I thought he was talking to me, then I noticed he wasn't even anywhere near me.
I slowly made my way around the corner and stopped. There he was......
talking to a girl! My heart pounded and I hid behind the building to eavesrop.
"It's me Vex! Cara! Do you remember me?" the girl asked.
I scowled at Cara. She had long brown hair and blue eyes.
"Who is she?" I thought sourly.
There was a silence, then Vex gasped.
"Wait! Cara?!" he asked. She nodded.
"You remember me! Awesome!" she smiled.
I saw Vex frown.
"What's wrong Vex? You havn't forgotten all the times we've had together have you?" Cara asked. I paid closer attention now.
"Of course I havn't!...... How could I?"
"So....." I saw her begin to blush. "Do you still love me?"
It took all the strength in me not to gasp. My heart stopped as I waited for Vex's answer. There was a long silence.
"Cara, there's this one girl, who I fell in love with........." he began.
"You don't love me anymore? But.......... I never got to tell you the truth about my feelings! I love you Vex! I didn't want to leave!" Cara was actually crying.
I was actually a little surprised. I saw it in her eyes, she really loved him.
It made me wanna hurl.
There was another long silence, Vex looked like he was in deep thought.
"Cara?" he said. She looked at him through teary eyes.
"I still love you." Vex said. My heart stopped.
"Really Vex?! You still love me?!" she whispered.
"Yes. Besides, the one I currently loved loves someone else."
"I'm sorry... I've missed you Vex. I havn't seen you in 10 years......"
Suddenly, I saw Vex lean down and kiss Cara! My heart shattered.
I turned and ran, tears streaming down my face.
"No turning back now..... Vex loves someone other than me!......
Why didn't he tell me about her?!" I screamed inside my head.
I collapsed to my knees, (once again) and sat there, confused and disoriented.
I didn't know what to do, so I just went to go look for Max.

I found Max resting under a willow tree. He seemed so lonely.
I walked over with a heavy heart.
"Max?" I said. His eyes opened. He had a blank expression.
"Aya? What's wrong?"
"Vex is in love with a girl from his past..... I saw them kissing.."
I whispered. Max frowned, and sat up.
"I'm sorry to hear that...." he whispered. There was a long silence between us, then I just had to ask him.
"Why did you run away when I told you I loved you?" I asked.
"Aya, *sigh* I think you know by now, that I used to love Haine." he said.
I nodded, I actually did know that.
"Well, I knew Jake and Haine loved each other, but I tried my very hardest to keep her safe. But seeing their love for each other was hard. So before I died, I promised myself, if I ever was brought back to life, I wouldn't fall in love again."
He paused to look at me.
"I broke that promise." he concluded.
"You mean?"
"Yes, I love you Aya."
For once in my life, I felt happy. Max leaned over and kissed me soflty.
I never wanted it to end, but suddenly Max stopped kissing me.
"Sorry to interupt!" a voice growled. I spun my head around.
Wesley was standing no less then a foot away.
