...to meet with an ex and do some shopping, right? And I go nowhere near the Cheater's restaurant... I want nothing to do with her and don't want to so much as see her or think of her fat smug face.

But little did I know it was already too late.

She, through the use of cronies and underlings, found that I was walking through the mall, and when she learned that I was walking with another of my exes, that strange jealousy the Cheater is prone to consumed her. She wasted no time finding security and telling them that I had ventured into her place of business, threatened her, and harassed her customers and employees, despite my visible aversion to so much as acknowledging the existence of her restaurant. I had not so much as seen her all day (thankfully) -- but I certainly saw the policemen that came to take me away for "violating" the restraining order.

They cuffed me, took me outside, read me my rights, and sat me in a car... then walked off to take the testimony of the Cheater. Beside her, backing up every word like it was gold covered in chocolate, was Crony Number One (ironically, this crony was the very person she claimed to hate when half our rent came up missing during the time we lived together. She had said the crony had taken it, but she seemed quite chummy with her now... wonder where that rent went).

So I was taken to the station and questioned and booked... but through the judicious use of cooperation and charisma, I convinced the officer that had taken me in to mark the crime down from a felony class 6 to a misdemeanor 1. Lucky break #1, go Patch.

Then I was taken downtown, processed, treated like so much meat, packed like a sardine into a tiny holding tank, held without food, and given a court hearing. Either the judge was in a most excellent mood, or he was impressed that I was the only individual all day so far that had called him by honorific. All I know is he nearly assigned me an attorney and kept me in lockdown (he even said as much), but he released me to my own recognizance (on my own, come on people, grab the dictionary) and scheduled a later court date. Lucky break #2, you're on a roll, Patch.

I was released roughly nine hours later.
