First off: Auditions. I was talking to my brother, who is soon to go to college to become a music teacher, and we both realized that I wasn't ready to audition for the women's chorale group. Instead, he's just going to teach me music theory and stuff over the summer and I'll develop myself as an alto more in Mixed Chorus, since anyone can join. Hey, maybe I can expand my range and become a tenor in that time. Of course, that would mean having to read bass clef along with treble.... heh.... (I have a fairly low range. I can sing in key with the singer of this song. [Don't worry, it's just youtube.] And I'm obviously female. Amazing, neh?)
So, I'll have a year to learn the basics, and then I'll audition next year to hopefully get into the group the year after that.
Second off: Novel. Novel novel novel novel. No, I haven't finished part 1 yet. Haven't had the time. I'm still working on chapter ten, and I think that I'll add in another chapter before going on to part 2. The reasons why are fairly complicated.
Oh, and I'm having a bit of a, well, I wouldn't call it a major problem or issue or dilemma, but it's a little annoyance.
My grandfather, who's published a few books, is encouraging me to write, but I get this gut feeling that he's just humoring me and doesn't think that I can do it. A while ago, like before the end of 8th grade last year, he told me that if I finished a 300 page novel, then he'd help me publish it and he'd buy me a laptop.
Well, I got the laptop, and then this better one, and he says that he'll help me out with publishing anyway. But I still set 300 pages as my minimum goal.
How many pages do I have at the moment? Well, over the amount of a few documents, it all adds up to around 70 pages. So far. So What I need to do, if there's going to be three parts, is beef up each segment with 100 pages at the least, or add more pages to some parts and less to others. That's what I'm thinking of doing...
What else, what else.... Oh, so I have a field trip for Band tomorrow. No, I'm not in the class, but next year's captain talked to the BD and said that we wanted to promote colorguard, and she thought that it was a great idea. So, we'll be off to go on the band tour. Hooray!
So we practiced today, just making up some stuff and adding in some old show stuff, and now I have the song "Semper Fi" stuck in my head (The band is going to be playing it).
Oh, and on another note, I was able to talk to my counselor the other day. I met the occupational therapist that I'll be working with and I altered my schedule.
Meaning that starting April 9th, when the next quarter starts, my block A math class will be switched to block G (same teacher though, but that's fine since I like my math teacher) and my block G freshman gym class will be changed to block A conditioning.
A juniors and seniors only gym class.
So, hooray!
And I have a couple of good friends in that same class too, so double hooray!
Also, for those non-existant readers who are wondering what's going on between me and the guy I like...
Nada. I haven't worked up the nerve to talk to him or make eye contact or anything. I did send him a wall message through Facebook though! But that was a while ago and he hasn't responded to the message, though he's responded to messages that others have sent him. So either he forgot to reply to me, thinks I'm too insignificant to reply to, or he's too shy to respond.
The most likely choice is this first one, but whatever.
I'll be seeing him on the band trip tomorrow, and my best friend told me that she'll be angry if I don't end up talking to him, because she talks to the guy she likes all the time and they've become good friends. So basically I have some words mapped out in my head of what I'll say when the right time comes, if I get the chance to talk to him.
But the thing is, I'm not a very confident person. So I've been remembering a line from a song from "The Sound of Music."
Maria: "I have confidence in confidence alone!!!"
So I have confidence in confidence alone! Can't you see....? I have confidence in me!!!
*boosts morale*
Now that's pretty much it. Got a big history project too. I'm looking up stuff about the Swahili culture and can only use websites ending in .edu, non-kiddie books, and encyclopedias (not wikipedia). Pretty frustrating. I have to have a draft of a bibliography in by Friday, and so far I only have a teeny bit of info from one website and one book. I'm gonna check my school's library on Tuesday when I have a study hall. Hopefully they'll be better stocked than my town's library.
Well, this is Horse lady, spinning to Semper Fi, putting ice on a bruise on her knee, and singing about how confident she is, signing out!
