This is my character 'Buttons'. I like to draw her a lot and theres a whole story of her mapped out in my head. She never knew her parents, and was an orphan since before she could remember. Young, confused, and in desparate need for food, Buttons would wander the streets begging strangers. One evening, when she was about eight years old, a glowing orb appeared in front of her. Buttons didn't think much of it, and shook it off as a hunger-induced hallucination. But this orb would not go away. Persistant, it tugged, pulled, and pinched her, until finally Buttons gave up. "What do you want?" She said, aggravated. The orb didn't reply, instead it floated down the street. "You want for me to follow you?" Buttons asked with curiosity. Again, the orb didn't reply. Buttons got up and started to follow, not knowing whether to trust her own eyes. It led her through endless amounts of twists, turns, and corners. Finnally, it stopped in front of a house, or more rather, a mansion, with its windows glowing dimly. Unsure, Buttons knocked on the door. An old woman opened the door and peered at Buttons with anger. "Who are you? What do you want?" the old lady bellowed. Scared, Buttons barely cought her voice. "My name is buttons, and I do not want anything, something just led me here. I am sorry for the disturbance Ma'am." She almost tripped as she ran down the stairs that led to the mansion. "Wait, girl! What did you say led you here?" "A..A glowing orb, ma'am" The old lady stared at her with awe. "Come in, come in, girl." Buttons, bewildered, stepped into the mansion. "I need to wake the Lord! Bella, take care of her" A serving maid appeared and nodded at the old lady. "Make sure she is clean and fed, and get some of Izma's old clothes for her to wear." Bella nodded. There was work to be done. "Follow me, ma'am" Bella said in a british accent. This was a dream. Buttons knew it. She was so tired. So hungry........

Buttons awoke with a start. What a wierd dream she had...the last thing she remembered was getting scrubbed and pinched and prodded by at least a hundred maids, scrubbing her with soap, trying to get all the dirt off of her...what a silly dream.....Buttons sat up. Wait. This was a bed. A comfortable bed. What was she doing here? Was last night not a dream after all?

It wasn't. All day she was treated like a princess. The Old lady absolutly insisted on her wering silk and velvet, and her stomach well fed. "Why are you doing this for me?" Buttons asked. "You'll see." was the ladies only answer. Buttons looked in the mirror. Her once black, coarse hair was now a soft, moonlight shade of white. Finally, she was led into a room. There stood a beautiful lady with golden ringlets and green emerald eyes. Her dress was light blue that accented her ivory skin very nicely. The Lady smiled. "Tell me, dear child, do you recognize this?" The Lady held out her palm, where a glowing orb rested. Buttons was speechless. She looked closer, and she could see that it wasn't a glowing orb, but a fairy! "Y-yes, ma'am." Buttuns Stuttered. The Lady wooshed over to embrace Buttons. "It IS you! My daughter! My daughter has come!" The lady sobbed. "You are my mother? How do you-" "I was put under a curse, my dear. An old witch came and took you away when you were only a few days old." her mother let out a sob, and took a breath of air. "She said, I would never find you unless you came to me. Every day I would search for you, but I had no idea what my daughter even looked like after a while. I put a reward up- I did everything! But I could never find you. never. So I devised a plan. I practice magic at times, but this time it was big. I asked the gods for help. And they gave me Libbi, this fairy. Only you and I can see her. That's how I know it was you. Oh, I am so happy!"
And with that, Buttons lived a happy life from then on.
The End.
