She murmured and muttered silently as she walked past the cart she just hit. "Stupid cart" she thought. Trying to move on she walked on silently. On her way to her hideout new surges of fluxing pain went through her foot. She ignored it and carried on. Opon arriving to the hideout moments later she knocked three times on the door, said a codeword, and the door opened into a room where four children her age were sitting.
They looked at her grim face that was mostly covered with a mask formed out like a bird. About in town thier leader, promtly know as the thief lord, didnt like people to see her face. They stared at her with forlorn faces as she justled a can of fruit cocktail. Shed just stolen the days worth of food from a near buy store.
She smiled lightly, and as she did she looked even more grim than she was. She knew they all wanted to know what was in the bag but she just watched them. After a few moments that seemed endless she passed out the food. once it was all distributed she sat down and ate some fruit in a can.
Each one of the four children looked at her wistfully. "well dig in" she said. They all lingered for a moment but soon dug right into thier days rations. Shortly after they started to eat one of the younger children looked at her with glistening eyes. She knew he wanted to ask her something but he didnt say a word,probably to dismayed to do so. He wasnt the most obliging of the bunch but he was full of questions.
Just then his brother spoke up,"We're leaving the hideout to go venture for ourselves." Starled by what she just heard she half-chocked on her food. "This ought to be interesting" she thought. "Your doing what now?" she asked. "We're leaving," he repeated,"to go get food for ourselves."
She shook her head and grinned. "are you now? And what is to happen if you cant find food and run out,huh? What happens if im not here to help you and you all starve, hm?" He didnt answer but his eyes slowly made it to the floor. "I have provided you with food,shelter warmth and how do you repay me? By saying 'we dont need her we can take care of ourselves'"
Now all the childrens gazes were at the floor. "I'll be back Tuesday, which is three days from now. Lets see how well you do until then without me" And with that she turned and left them all sitting in that room. "Till tuesday" she thought leaving.
