The Last Flight.
The red dragon looked up at the red moon for the first time in four years. The last time this happened, God had spoken to the dragon. The Lord said, "The next time the moon turns red, you must lead the rest of your kind with my direction." So the dragon shook his wings and roared into the sky, calling for the other dragons.
Soon after, over one hundred of the last dragons flew into view, each varying in color.
The red dragon flew up to meet the others, taking the lead position.
As they headed west, the red dragon looked down at the land. Wales, the place where he was once called a hero, now corrupted by dragon slayers. He wondered if he would ever return, or if he would ever see Merlin or King Arthur again, his old friends who had kept him hidden from the slayers.
When the dragons flew out over the sea and could no longer spot land, the brightest star in the sky appeared on the south-western horizon, and the dragons followed it.
When the journey was over, the dragons were greeted by red-skinned people who treated them with respect.
For hundreds of years the dragons prospered, but soon white men from Europe came to their home, and the dragons were forced to go into hiding again in order to prevent the slayers from hunting them.
Now, we can only hope that one day these noble creatures will show themselves once again so that we may befriend them.
