The State of Affairs: The Good and the Bad.
The Chinese were totally on the mark with their yin-yang principle. In this world good must always be opposed by bad. If only good existed we would be in a state of ignorance, for if there was no bad we wouldn't know what it was and therefore wouldn't realize how great we had it. There must be both or neither would exist. Everything revolves around perception. If there was no bad to compare things to then there would be no good to appreciate. It all boils down to the statement "opposition in all things."
