Hey. Check this out. It's the first chapter of Twilight from Edward's point of view. It's cool.

This is exactly why the truly talented amateurs have no chance in getting published. The subjectively collective audience of Americans--epsecially teens--cannot analuze a novel if their lives depended on it. That's why I think we should have more Shakespeare introduced into our curiculum, but cut out Romeo and Juliet. That play was cliched so much by writers that followed to the point it's s**t. Everyone looks for plot or character personality, never remotely decent character development.

Actually Nishin, from what I've read of the Twilight series, while I want to know what happens I agree with you. It's cliched and Bella is way too perfect and it annoys me. Yet I love it. Only because I don't have a capability to hate any form of literature.
I especially agree on your view of Shakespeare. I love his plays and its fun to analyze them. And though I do love Romeo and Juliet, it is very much over-used and not his best play.

Of course. Shakespeare provided so many archetypes for me to use in my own pieces. wink

The internet only makes the Twilight series even worse because it's just a collection of fantards that know absolutely nothing about anything. They're all, "EDWARD IZ SO HAWT!!!!!111!!11!1!!!one!!!!eleven!!!!" That's all they really see. (Notice the rape of excalamtion marks.) They wouldn't know good literature if it hit them in the face, Godbold told them it was, and if it said so on the front cover. The teens of today just can't analyze worth a damn.

Besides, I don't like the fact that Meyer strayed from the traditional vampire myth. That scared me, to be honest, but made it slightly interesting enough for me to read. But I really don't want to read fifty ********' times how hot Edward is. I already know he's inhumanly, invampirely sexy after the third time in the first book. And why must every vampire novel have the vampire vs. werewolf conflict?! C'mon, Anne Rice was bad enough with her horrible plot, characters, and diction. (Her earlier works were slightly better than Meyer's Twilight series.)

*smashes head on keyboard*

Oh, Joseph Heller's Catch-22.... What a good novel. Why can't you be glorified the way fantards glorify Twilight?! crying Seriously, that was an amazing novel. It's probably the best novel one could possibly ever read. (Obviously, I just finished reading Catch-22. It's pure literary love...)

Nishin, if you keep smashing your head on the keyboard, you're going to give yourself permanent brain damage... and we wouldn't want that, would we?

Maybe I can lose just enough brain cells on the right half to enjoy this series without analyzing every single thing.

Why, oh, why must Catch-22 go unloved by teens not taking AP courses? WHY?! crying

It's bad enough Anne Rice made vampires suck like hell. Oh, I just lost all faith in humanity. Thanks a lot, guys. xp
