The wind was blowing the cherry blossoms around the garden. The sunset was a bright red. A common bad omen. It still didn't worry the small boy sitting in the vast trees. He knew what he had to do was the right thing, no matter how scared he was.
His mother come out of their house calling him over.
"It's time to come in, little Ivy."
Ivy nods his head and starts to get up. His mother holds her hand out him. Ivy takes her hand, gets up and asks, "It's time, mother kyoku?"
Kyoku sighs, "Come, my son. It is time. You know this is something we have to do. No matter how much I hate it."
"I don't care what happens to me, just as long as you and the village is safe. So please don't worry," Ivy said calmly.
"Oh, my child! I will never stop worrying about you."
Kyoku hugs Ivy and kisses him on the forehead. And they both start walking together to their home one last time.
On the steps of the main building on military base, B.C., a 16 year old boy sits.
