I don't recall teaching you -desu, if I have I'm going to anyway. The first rule about -desu is that it goes at the end of the sentence ALWAYS. remember in the previous lessons i had said subject>object>verb, well -desu is a verb, a helping verb
for example:
watashi seizou-san desu
I( watashi ) seizou-san ( name ) desu (am)
I am seizou-san
