Rant Against Nik (Dungeon Master on Neverwinter Nights)
The Harry Potter in Neverwinter Nights server (HPNWN) is a place forged from months and months of hard work from various people, mostly from Kerry, the original creator. Me and Kerry got along decently, but he isn't the topic for today.

The Harry Potter server had many DMs back when Kerry hosted. I became great friends with two of them; one left, the other is still here, but has yet to regain her status. One of the DMs I didn't become friends with was SHOVA, referred to as SHO by most.

In the beginning, me and SHO got along perfectly fine. We talked like sensible people, etc, and we even worked out a plan that would help out the server, and possibly land me a DM position. I was supposed to receive an older version of the mod, and add my modifications, and SHO would send that finished product to Kerry, and if he liked it, he'd implement many of the features. If he liked it a lot, I could possibly land a position as DM or builder.

All seemed to go well, until SHO mysteriously disappeared for a few weeks, and returned with an odd case of amnesia; he didn't remember me and seemed much harsher in general. Whatever, I figured.

I recruited my friend to HPNWN one day, and we were in a party chatting away, and SHO was on. We swore, once in party, and SHO gave me a warning, and ignored him. After that, I swore again in an isolated area, with only my friend again, using public chat. Even worse, SHO was in DM Invisibility behind me, and banned me after that, giving my friend only a slap on the wrist.

Not being the host, SHO can't ban, so I figure I'll be more clear. He modified one of my stats to 50 or so, which would normally be good. After that, he kicked me, and I couldn't rejoin with that character due to the fact his stats didn't match his level. I brought in every character I had, and each got the same treatment before I could even say anything to SHO. Eventually, my friend told SHO to ******** off and logged out of his own accord before he could get the same treatment.

This ended my first period in HPNWN. The second one just began not while ago.

After leaving HPNWN, I hopped various servers, rejoined the semi-uber world, and became DM at a small levelup and test server called Barebones with two other friends. I still talk with one, the other went off to go on mad sex quests and whatnot. Once he left, he handed the server to me, which was right, I scripted most of the features.

After a few months, I brought Barebones and NWN in general down. I uninstalled the game, and when I tried to get back into it later, I found my play disc was scratched beyond belief. No use there, but I'll admit I tried.

So, earlier, I got a torrent up and going for NWN, put my CD Keys back in, and bam. I was back in business. A few good servers had taken themselves down, and upon visiting the hpnwn forums, I saw it was still up and going. So, I grabbed the IP, and direct-connected to that ********.

A friend had already filled me in on what happened to HPNWN. Kerry had put up the "******** this" that has become exceedingly popular, and tossed the server away to various other hosts, finally landing in the hands of a tweedy little 17 year old, who goes by the name Nik.

Nik is the topic of this little rant.

On my first day, I met Nik, and I explained what SHO did, and it would be nice to meet the new server host. He seemed alright, but my friend continuously warned me that he was a bit power-obssessed. I didn't see it, but that would come soon enough.

Later on, I asked Nik if there was a position open as builder, and the conversation slowly spiraled downwards, eventually ending with him telling me he was 'sure I was just as uber at building as I said I was,' and me telling him that he was just as power-crazed as I had been told he was. He told me not to talk if I was going to be an a*****e, and I left it at that.

Later on. We were on semi-decent terms. I hooked him up with a site to watch a movie he wanted to see, he seemed happy enough. I sent a DM application in. I got no reply. I asked him in game, and he said he 'thought he had PMed me back.' He said he denied it, but if things kept going the way they were, I'd get a DM position for sure.

Quick note. HPNWN is in dire need of DMs. We have three, from what I've seen. One is Nik himself, one is Miss Scarlet, who essentially licks Nik's a*****e, and the other is Colonel Mustard, an extremely funny guy. Sadly, none of them are on much. By that, I mean you're lucky to catch a DM every other week. Much different from the original HP, where DM events came every weekend or so.

Either way, me and two other players (Ray and Ward) got together and agreed to bring this issue up on he forums. The topic was going very nicely, until Nik barged in and told us he didn't even consider most DM applications after reading half of them, and even donated a little paragraph on how to NOT send in an application, in which he used mine as a little demo.

The topic dropped into the cesspools of anger. I figure it's best to put in some quotes from it, however.

Quote:
*Shrugs* More DMs would be nice for the people of the server. I've asked Nik. He doesn't want me... I don't mind.

Quote:
Anyway I give up, If you think we are some whiney bitches that cant amuse ourselfs with just rp then you're just wrong, I guess most of you are missing our bigger point/issue and I dont care too explain it so I'll just go and be silent since noone wants to hear voiced concernes anymore.

Quote:
** sighs ** ever trying to be the peace keeper, I will completely admit that more DMs is a good thing.

Quote:

Now i will also try not to reply anymore to this post sence many of you just dont get the point we are trying to explain, an as Artemis says some people show disrespect and no damn attention and they dont care about what we say.

Nik's response to our opinions, and Ray's reply to him.

Quote:
Yup, I obviously don't understand the point of this thread, as explained
by the geniuses, Arty, Ray and Ward. Now, unless any of you aren't done
flaming, would any objection be raised if I locked this unholy waste of
forum space?

Quote:
Wee, strip us from our free will by locking our concerns

In which the topic was locked. Nik made it his quest to ignore me. He did nicely, but paused to quickly humiliate me over server chat. I think a quick pause is needed here for some explanation.

Ward provided me with a druid build. It was extra-powerful, and way better than what I had. Only major problem was the race switch from human to gnome, but I had a good RP reason. Word got around that Narn was rebuilding as gnome, and Nik eventually heard. Now, here's the situation.

Player pause was turned on. Players could freeze time as they wished, and there was no proof on who pressed the space bar, so the entire server got pissed soon. Now, server chat can only be done from the client that hosts the server. It also sends a message to everyone on the server. The client also has the little checkbox with "PLAYER PAUSE" next to it.

Nik, instead of checking that box off, decided to get on server chat, and mock my transformation to gnome.

Player pause was still on when I logged out. Nik was supposed to be away, and if server chat didn't require using the client, it would be understandable. But for real, come on. Mock me, go ahead, but forget to ******** turn off the button?

Now, the second issue; although I'm not done talking on Nik, these two merge nicely.

So, after that, I was hanging around the entrance hall, and chatting with someone. I kept on noticing reflex saves popping up in the bottom of the screen, and when the person I was chatting with left, I cast true seeing, only to notice my good friend Seril Kane running around casting spells at me. I yelled his name and sent a stonehold at him, and he chose that moment to run in between two people. Drado Bolton and Alexis Muune (not positive on the name). Stonehold did it's job on all of them except Seril, who ran off. I ran after him, but was soon caught by my own stonehold. It happens occasionally. Drado and Alexis, having been caught earlier, broke the stonehold as soon as I got caught in it. Drado walked over and threw a Cone of Cold at me, but due to bad player aim, it missed me by a hair. No reflex saves or anything, he just clicked a bit too far to the right. After that, he muttered a bit and walked off.

Alexis, however, decided that despite the fact I was already encased in a ******** block of STONE, I needed more problems. So, she decided to cast a Bigby spell on me (I'm 80% sure it was Grasping Hand). I soon broke my stonehold, but was trapped in this giant green hand, gripping me like some insane d***o. I told her I could remove the spell if she just let me go, to which she laughed.

Quick note that she uses the female voiceset that has the only laugh that puts something in the chat box. All the other voicesets just send the laugh through sound, this one does sound, and imputs a nice little 'cold chuckle' in the box. On a roleplay server, that can be very annoying, due to grammar issues and whatnot (lack of period, fragment, lack of caps).

She walked around the stonehold, and then proceeded to hex me with wand spells (spells requiring no skill to do 40+ dmg). The person I was chatting with, and was supposed to meet a long time ago, ran up from the dungeons, wondering what was happening. By then, Alexis had cast Flesh To Stone on me, and was torturing me to death. When my friend asked what was going on, Alexis only 'cold chuckle'd again and cast the same on him. She then used wand spells to kill us both.

I had had enough of it by then, since that was just being a pure b***h. Oh, and did I mention, that despite the fact HPNWN is a roleplay server, and remains realistic, Alexis wears all pure black armor and has a DEVIL TAIL?

I logged off, and later logged on. Colonel Mustard was DMing, and he let me relevel (bring my original char to lvl 1, and the powerbuilt one Ward gave me instructions for to 16). It went well, but after one day, Colonel told me that he had rethought it, and brought me down to level 1 again. He told me if I wanted to bring the original char back to 16, I could. I told him to not bother. I gave all my valuable items to one of the nicer new players, and logged out for good.

Now that the story's over, it's time for the final part. First, Nik.

He's a pissy 17 year old, with the mental capacity of a child. He acts like a decent guy, until the conversation switches to something he doesn't like, which is when he drifts into complete psycho b***h mode, which I previously thought to be a female-only mentality.

The entire server has decided to do the smart thing, and has bent down to lick Nik's a** to stay on good ground with him. Rewards have ranged from unique wand spells to helmets with flaming eyes (Very Harry-Potteresque). Unfortunately, I refuse to lick anyoine's a** unless absolutely necessary, and I'd rather be anally assaulted than bend down to Nik. Some of the server just plain ******** disgusts me, capitalizing the h in he when the topic turns to him and whatnot. Forum-wise, EVERY topic he posts in either turns into

1) Nik-worship
2) You want to fight Nik? Too bad! He owns the ******** server, b***h!

Every single topic. That's why the original point of the topic is NEVER maintained, and why he had no clue what we were talking about in my earlier forum post.

Other than Nik, a host of new players and people have joined the server, and many believe that since they are 7th years (currently the highest rank), they are ******** Hitlers, and everyone else is a Neo-Nazi. Activities like this have led to me becoming friends with such people as dramgod17, and crashing the server on purpose with another friend.

HPNWN has died, and I'm getting the ******** out of it before this bipolar 17 year old baby closes the casket.

--------------

One more thing.

HPNWN has one builder. Drado Bolton. He is not DM. ONE builder for a ******** huge server.

See an issue?

Nik is too much of a p***y to do anything about this, I'm guessing, but I'm tired off him spewing menstrual fluid all over the server. He has essentially ignored the server with the simple "I don't care" comment, which in case you didn't notice, fell out of most people's vocabulary in third grade.

Keep on not caring, Nik. See how far it gets you outside of HPNWN. And while we're at it, look around and see how it's doing INSIDE.

---------------

Bah, I can't finish in peace. I almost forgot this part, and it's pretty essential.

As any HP reader knows, Voldemort is one of the most powerful wizards. EVER. Nik's character, Priggo Seville, is very special.

He was torturing kids in 2nd year, learned shitloads of dark magic (Unforgiveables included) in THIRD year, and by 4th, leaves and dust moved away from him, and Voldemort was afraid of him. In 5th year, he had killed, and learned how to summon inferi. He also had a small fan club called The Panthers, all of whom had amulets that teleported them to a dimension where they could get anything they wanted, and death was temporary.

Very Harry Potter like. The punk a** thinks he can do anything since he runs the place. Think I'm exaggerating? Then I suppose we shall bring out a Class A Reference. The server tries to keep everything PG-13, but that ideal is simply OBLITERATED in the first sentence. This was taken from Nik's roleplay thread, titled 'The Price of Power is Infinity."

Quote:
The tiny wizard sat on the nude witch's stomach, his boots planted
firmly in the sand on either side of her face.

"I can't hear you, Ms. Wilde. You'll have to speak up." He smirked as she
sputtered, barely able to see him through the bloated flesh around her
eyes.

Tracing the blade of his knife around an exposed n****e, he eyed her
curiously, his umbrella's tip still lodged in her throat. After a few moments
of meager resistance, he finally rose. Dropping a boot on her wrist, he
slipped his dagger's tip against her hand.

"Spread your fingers, Joki." As expected, she pulled them together in a
fist, defying him. With a slight smile, he went to work, caving his family
brand in the second woman in his life. An 'S' burned into her skin, he
arose again.

"Another mark of mine." Shaking his head irritably, he tossed her aside
again, his umbrella quivering as he poured magic into her.

The Sun lifted its heavy face into the pale sky. Burning light flooding
through the Valley, Priggo had to raise a gloved hand to shield his face
from the brilliant rays. The minutes, and eventually hours ticked by as
he made Joki pay for her crimes.

By the end of the day, her burnt, crippled and blood-soaked body lay in
a pathetic pile in the sand. He eyed her darkly, the tiniest bits of pity
playing with the strings of his heart.

But his mind kept going back to her words, "Whatever you do, Seville...
it was worth it." Roaring, he raced to her side, dropping his heavy boot
into her jaw, which slipped out of place with a muffled *click.* Walking
away, he turned his back on that foreboding scene, both of her wands
safely tucked away within the darkness of his sleeves.

"Your money's on the dresser." And he walked away.

Nik has also said that the quote that most defines his character was spoken by the Roman Emperor Caligula, who is famous for being addicted to sex and money, and who elected his favorite horse as head priest and 2nd in command for all of Rome.

Paying attention in class has some benefits, but with that intelligence, I suppose Nik wouldn't know.

---------------

I ran this post by a friend, and he couldn't resist giving me more stuff to bash on Nik for. This is a bit more insane than proof provided above. Once again, taken from the roleplay thread.

3rd year :
Quote:
Priggo held his wand to the man's face, nervous yet steady. The man's insult only urged him on as he spoke the words of the curse, weaving the flame through the man's insides, being careful not to kill him.

5th :
Quote:
He was now able to control as many as seven inferi at once, setting them out to perform simple mundane tasks. He could cast as many as five spells at once. Four if they were wandless. Three if he did it nonverbally.

Somewhere past 5th :
Quote:
Priggo was using Crucio nearly half a dozen times per day now, as he practiced deep within his amulet. He didn't have to do much. All he had to do was imagine Lucian, and the spell would provide the rest.

Main Point :
Quote:
Priggo found Delia, Laura and Lucian all knocked unconcious in a room.
They were surrounded by guards, of course. Priggo had difficulty in
finishing them off, but alas... a room full of adult wizards were no match
for a 17 year old student at Hogwarts.
The thought nearly made him sick.

I seem to remember Nik saying that Unforgiveables were given only to SOME players, and only rarely. Besides that, the ******** Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter, was having Patronus trouble in third year, but this sad soul was putting flame through a grown man's veins?

There was also a reply back from one of Nik's worshipers, but I'll only put it in if requested.
