lilly looked up and growled. she did not intend to, but it was an instinct that she could not resist. lacy looked at her in an annoyed manor.
"excuse me?" she said in a most stuck up tone. " did you just growl at me?"
"no, i, ummm," lilly knew she had to make something up, or jeperdise her secret, or be called a freak even more than she was now. " i had something in my lungs." she confirmed, clearing her throat to prove it. lilly knew that it sounded fake.
"first off, shes not a geek, and i dont appreciate you calling her that. second, the reason i am not hanging out with you is because, well." lilly could tell that zac was strugling with his words.
"well what?" lacys annoiance was strong, almost like an accent, in her words.
"well, we're through." he finally said.
both lilly and lucy were shocked by this.
"what?" said lacy, sounding dumbfounded. "you cant break up with me!" she finally managed.
"and why not?" responded zac in a tone lilly could not identify.
"because thats my job." she yelled. then she screamed and ran out the room.
zac shook his head and turned to lilly. "thanks, you just totally saved me from her." he said.
lilly couldnt speek for a moment. "um, your welcome." she finally said unsure.
"hey, your in the band, arent you? i saw you guys march the other night."
it was true, she was in the band, although she was stund that he knew this.
"yea, how did you know?" she managed.
"im on the football team, i noticed you because you were the only one not talking to somebody during the game." again true. she thought. she was not one of the popular ones in skool. in fact, since she was considered a freak, she had no friends what so ever.
"oh thats cool." she said, looking down. she felt her cheeks go red. and then the bell rang, a little to soon, it felt like to lilly.
"well i'll see you around." he said, getting up.
"yea, see ya." she replied as he left.
she only wished that he knew how she felt.
