Yeah, so, I know that it hasn't been very long since my last entry, but I just wanted to rant about something.
Grammar.
Yes, I admit it, I am a grammar nazi. I admit it that seeing a sentence without a properly placed comma, or a run-on sentence, or a simple spelling mistake.... I admit that it all sickens me.
I know, I probably already have a few grammar mistakes in this entry, or in past entries, but that's due to technical difficulties (bad keyboard) and the fact that I'm only publishing simple rants.
But when I'm reading things that were originally posted as stories meant for people to read and I encounter at least five mistakes within the first tiny paragraph... that makes me sick.
I have a short story to tell. It was about one of my visits to a fan fiction site. I wanted a laugh, so I decided to see what was up in the more mature section of the Twilight fictions. So I clicked on one story that looked promising and read through it. The summary made it sound good, made it sound well thought out. It was a well-written summary, though very short. No grammar errors, no run-ons, nothing, So I went in, expecting a good, well-written story.
It was only about two paragraphs long, but each line was sort of spaced out, making it seem longer.
First rant: Lack of commas and periods. The sentences made pretty much no sense, and I was only just barely able to grasp at was going on.
Second rant: It was a post-imaginary-rape-scene. Five guys just finished beating on the girl, and then the main guy character, Edward, comes onto the scene, all out of character, and the five guys just casually walk away. And then Edward's sister magically appears and is all friendly toward the other girl, Bella, who is (in the fan fiction) all beat up. The sister is usually cold toward Bella (for known reasons in the book) and the sudden volunteer to help was just so out of character that it was sickening.
And then Edward's OOC moment: he would have done more than just run in the building crying out "BELLA!!!!" and falling to his knees in despair while the five guys are just like "LOL w/e" and walk out. No, the REAL Edward from Twilight would have kicked those guys asses, or would have wanted to but have been distracted by Bella's pain... and it would have been mentioned that that's the only reason he didn't kill those men!
And Bella.... Well, she was pretty much unconcious, so I can't really say anything about that.
So basically is was one of the worst fan fictions that I have ever read, and now I feel sick when I think the thoughts, "Katie, you should write a fan fiction!"
So, yeah. That's my rant for today. Sucky grammar and fan fictions = UGH!!!!
