So, I read a book and it was called "The Well of Sacrifice". I loved it, so I decided to make a fanfic of it BASED on it. The characters have different names, but the personalities match. So, feel free to read it.
Quote: Chapter 1 ...Entrappment...
Dear Southernlight, Please, do not leave mother alone. She needs you. And I need you to stick with me. Especilally now. Love,Sky Bird
I saw the note tucked under my medicine basket when I had woke up. It was from my older brother. I looked at the note again, trying to decode the special message left behind it. What did he mean? Of course I wouldn't leave mother alone. And, why all of a sudden... now? I tucket the note back in my basket, and headed downstairs. I heard a wailing outside in the garden. "NO! NO! PLEASE, NO! YOU CANNOT DO THIS TO HIM! LEAVE MY SON ALONE!" It was mother. I ran outside, to catch the Priest-King's gaurd holding back Sky Bird in a headlock. The gaurd's other hand was holding Sky Bird's arm. Sky Bird had a scrape across his nose about a thumb's lengthlong. And, it was bleeding. A lot. "Sky Bird!", I managed to get out from my mouth. "Please, don't hurt him!" I ran up to help him, but Sky Bird pushed my away with his free hand. "No, don't try, my darling younger sister. I must go, for the King needs me. I can't let him down." I didn't expect him to say anything, since he was gasping for air. But that was partly because of the headlock he was rapped up in. "When will my son be done, serving the king?!" Mother screamed, as the gaurd dragged him away. The gaurd didn't answer, but gave my mother a pendant Sky Bird wore. So much thoughts had slipped throughout my mind within those seconds. "Why does the king need him?", "Why did the gaurd hold him tightly back, when he could have brought him to the temple without a fuss?", "How can I save him?", "Why did he hold me back, as if nothing were happening?"
Chapter 2 ...Confusion...
I remember that when I was little, I would always hang out in Mother's garden. I loved the herbs, flowers, and medicinal plants that grew abundantly. As soon as you would walk outside, you would be greeted with the friendly dwellings in our garden. "Mom, why is Sky Bird being taken away?!" I asked reluctantly. I knew this was probably none of my buisness for me to know, but my confusion and concern took over the urge. Mom's head lowered, her eyes looking straight down at her small feet. My heart beat out of my chest. The tension grew stronger and stronger every wordless second that passed by. "I honestly don't know. But I doubt that it's for the King's greedy needs." She finally responded, slowing down my heart beat. I remembered the pendant that mother was given from the gaurd. "Mother? Well, can I see the pendant? I- i mean, Sky Birds?" I accidentally let a tear release from my eye, and I silently scolded myself for it. Mom handed me the pendant. I smiled inside, for smiling right now, at this moment... could be a little awkward.
