Lately, my mom has been increasingly bitchy towards me. She calls me a smartass whenever I say something correct and contradictory to what she says. Any time i try to stand up to her, she immediatly says I need to calm down and stop acting like my brother (who she had major problems with). I have been thinking on it and I believe that it is because she is realizing that I will soon be fully independent from her. I have my own car that I paid for and make insurance payments on with money from my job. I have a serious girlfriend now and a life outside of school and work. It scares her, so she is trying to reign me back to her. I'm her youngest and she doesn't want me to leave, but she doesn't realize that by trying to force me back to her, she is pushing me farther away. I know this may sound kinda emo, but it's true. Inevitably, I will become separate from her and become a new person.
Ironcially, as soon as I started writing this, a friend of mine had an argument with his mom and he stated that it's a more frequent occurrance as he becomes more independent.
