Katie Sea's random drabbles and stuff Hi. I'm Katie Sea, formerly known as Horse lady, and this is my journal! This is mostly made up of rambles and rants about life.

Of.... Hair products and keeping the 'fro down? .... Huh?
Yeah, so, I felt the need to lighten up my Gaia journal with some mindless stuff about my hair. Yes, I know, very uncharacteristic of me, but I need something to lighten my mood. Something unrelated to writing, unrelated to band, and unrelated to the raging teenage hormones that I have to suffer with.

So, here's why I wanted to write an entry about my hair. It's winter again, and static makes my usually fluffy hair all the fluffier. I almost literally have an afro. A chocolate-brown, curly, heavy afro. The only reason that it doesn't stick up vertically on my head is because my hair is too long and too thick and heavy. So my "fro" is only a side "fro."

And I hate it. In the mornings, I risk killing myself (well, more like I risk getting hypothermia) because I try to wet it down to "calm the beast" before going to school. But then after I discovered a few ice crystals in my hair after getting on the bus, I decided to wet it down at night and not brush it in the morning. That's works okay for a while, but then it drives my nuts after a few classes.

Now, I usually wear it down. Why don't I wear it in a pony tail?
Because
A. I'm growing out my bangs, and they aren't long enough yet to put in my ponytail, unless I make it a really high, cheerleader-style ponytail. If I had another hair type, it might actually look decent, but I don't. So here's my other reason
B. Every time I put my hair in a ponytail and it isn't soaking wet, it's just a big fluff ball extending from the back of my head.

And then my ears get cold >.< and most of my teachers don't allow hats in class (except for bandannas, which I'll get to)

Yeah, the only way that I can really deal with it is by wrapping a bandanna around my head. And it works out fine, so people don't really notice the big fluff of my head, and it isn't in my face, and it keeps my bands out of my eyes.

But the other day, I was in the shower, washing my hair, and I was feeling determined to keep the 'fro down. So, after absolutely soaking it with shampoo and getting it out, I looked for conditioner and, alas, I could only find two different-brand travel-sized containers! Oh noes!

So, being the curious person I am, I took one brand and put it through my hair, and then took the other brand and put it through my hair too. And then I let it soak for longer than usual, and then rinsed it out. My hair certainly felt a little different, but in a good way.

So, when I went to bed, I let it be, and then the next day, it looked and felt fine, so I didn't brush it again, because brushing would've ruined the affect.

And this is my self-discovery! Using two different types of conditioner and a helluva lot of shampoo really works!!!

And my curls were springy again!!

Thanks, two different types of conditioner! *goes into a pose holding the two bottles of conditioner and a photoshopped name pops up like in commercials*

Oh, and before I go, I've got my last band thing of the year tonight! Niantic Light Parade, and even though parades aren't very important for the band, I'm just gonna have fun, because I'm gonna be spinning a flag again!

YAY!!!!

And this is Horse, with her newly-awesome anti-'fro, signing out!
