After the Surgery

Her pasty white cheeks,
Colorless forehead,
Cold, "cadaverous" hands,
Pearl ashen lips.
I was astonished to tears.
The sadness, fright, grief,
All carried alone,
In the six hours it took.
My "[insert Chinese character]"
Responded with a cracked voiceof acknoledgement.
She had passed through it,
Triumphed over the mountainous blood lossage,
Withstanded the eyes of death,
Overcame the worry of being cut open,
With a whisper hinting for us not to worry.
We held her hand,
Overly dark against her pallid skin,
Murmuring a slightly accented "Thank you"
for the support.
