"I just thought that one up on the way here."
That's something a comedian can say when one of their jokes bombs. You can't use that line in other lines of work, though. Like, if you're a surgeon, for instance:
"Hey guys, I've got an idea: let's plug this guy's bile duct right into his aorta, and appendix right into his anterior vena cava!"
15 Minutes Later:
"Wow, that is one jaundiced, septic m-f-er. Sorry guys, just thought that one up on the way here."
