Once a very long time ago. In a land not so far away, live a little girl and her cat. Every day the little girl went to play in the feild of yellow flowers near her home. Her mother and brother went to work every day to support thier little family so the little girls only companion was her cat.
In the field of yellow flowers there was a huge tree. It stood tall in teh middle of teh flowers. it was the only one for miles. Each day the little girl would come to the tree with her cat and play among the roots and branches of the tree. Every day she would swing from the branches and slide down the gnarled trunk. It was her own personal little play ground. Her cat would lay under it watching her play . Mewing every so often at the girls laughter.
This tree however was very special. Each day one single fruit would grow in the leaves high in the trees branches. Every day the girl would climb up the tree and grab the fruit. She always split it in half and shared it with her cat. She also saved the seeds. She would put them in the pocket of her little blue sundress and then when she got home that night would save them in a small jar in her tiny bedroom.
One day however the little girl went to put the seeds in the jar but found it was so full that the jar would no longer hold the seeds. Being such a small child she had no idea what to do with her treasure. She put the lid on the jar and went to find her brother. Surely he would know what to do with them. But alas her brother just looked at her and shook his head.
" Throw them away in the fire place sister! We cannot use them for anything. Such a waste of space. You should be using that jar to gather soemthing useful"
The little girl sadly walked away but she could feel something inside of her telling her to keep trying to find a way to use her jar of seeds. So the little girl and her cat went to find her mother. She though her mother would have the perfect solution. But sadly like her brother she didn't.
" Daughter just throw them into the fire they are no use. You should not be wasting your time with such things."
The little girl walked sadly back to her room. She put her seeds on her table and she and her cat cralwed into bed and fell fast asleep.
That night while the little girl was dreaming the great tree appered in her dream. The great tree where she played every day, in the field of yellow flowers. The great tree knowing of the girls problem spoke to her in her dream.
" Bring the jar to the base of my trunk dear child. In the ground around my roots plant the seeds one by one."
The liitle girl awoke the next morning as the sun came up. Her face was filled with happiness as she dressed. Then with out much delay the little girl and her cat left the house with the littel girls jar of seeds in tow. Just as the big tree said the little girl planted each seed in a small hole in the ground near the trees roots. Happy with her work that took her most of the day she returned home.
As the months passed, the little girl could see small saplings coming up all around the tree. and the small saplings got bigger and bigger and bigger with each passing day. Until one day fruit started growing on the trees branches. the littel girl was so happy that one day she took her mother out to the trees with her. Her mother was so delighted. There was enough fruit on the trees that she could sell them in town and make some money.
As the years went by and the trees grew. The little girl did as well. She never ever stopped thanking the great tree for helping her family by giving her the seeds that now grew the orchard her family took care of. And She never stopped going to the tree every day to play among its branches.....
