Actually, the two-cd compilation album is owned by my sister, used for their acad production as they need to intrepret and create a music video of "Bahay",a song included in the album. That was during my late high school days, and amazingly until now, I can't resist the music.
The album includes the great self-written lyrics of Granada that encompass politics, nature, current situation of the country and simple things in mind that everyone can relate to. Other compositions are from various good artists and even poems of all times.
First Part: Nature and Love
How can we resist the songs of endearment? The voice of your significant one and the melody of love? The greatness of the nature.. the water and the wind? You can never.
Most of the used songs in this album were used by Granada in his participation to some metropop competitions. I'm quite not familiar if he bagged the awards, but I can say, he bagged my heart with his love songs.
Second Part: Music and Melody
Salamat Musika, Pair of Voices and Mi Ultimo Adios.. few inclusions in this part.
I just memorized Rizal's Huling Pahimakas through the help of this album. Melody, for a fact, can relieve the stress of memorization.
Third Part: Of Life.. Unfair and Unjust. Dream and Live.
The reality of life is here. We live. We strive. We fail. We dream. And we still live, no matter what.
"Eroplanong Papel" is included in this part. This song made me feel passionate in fulfilling my dream: for the Philippines to reach its own height, its own peak. And that can be possible, when our own paper planes will also soar, united.
"Ang bundok ay handang akyatin Dagat ma'y kaya ring tawirin Ang pangarap ko'y mararating Isang araw ay liliparin Ang matataas na pader Ng aking eroplanong papel"
Futile? Of course not!
Fourth Part: The government, politics and corruption.
Since the album was launched year 1996, main concepts of it were on Fidel's presidency. His questionable projects, the long-time issue of corruptions and Philippines2000(?).
A satirical-musical propaganda against the ill-stricken government system using the melodies of popular songs Baha Kubo and Magtanim ay Di Biro. It seems to be cool tunes, yet embedded the message that something is wrong in the government..
"Bagong bahay, lumang pako...
Nang dahil sa pako bahay ni Pedro'y bumagsak Sa bulkan, bagyo, baha't lindol tuluyang nawarak Giba na ang dingding, sahig, haligi't bubungan Mabuti pa kaya, magbagongbahay na lang"
... and the whole country is suffering.
Last year, I watched Armida's Aawitan Kita featuring Granada as a brilliant Filipino artist.. and yes, she got the right words to introduce Gary..
isang henyo, makata, kompositor, at aktibista. smile
Go seize the day! smile
Go goldies! smile
