In the South, football is THE sport. At least, to most folks. Personally, I'm a basketball and soccer person but, growing up, I spent many Saturday afternoons in front of the TV with my dad. Together we'd watch college football (with dad, of course, coaching from his seat in the living room), especially Clemson football, as he was (and later me, too) a Clemson graduate.

If you looked further down on my profile, you would noticed the football schedules for my sons' college. My older son is a 6th year senior (did 1-1/2 years of internships) at Virginia Tech. My younger son is a senior at Clemson. Both of them are graduating in May 2008. A few years ago, Virginia Tech and a couple of other schools joined the Atlantic Coast Conference. Tonight was the first match-up between the VT Hokies and Clemson Tigers.

Neither of my sons were able to come this weekend which may have been good thing. It meant I didn't have to take a side on the game. Plus, with the outcome (VT 41 - Clemson 23), I didn't have to listen to crowing or growling, depending on the boys' reactions to the game. Bad enough to listen to my hubby lament the loss (he's also a Clemson grad) despite his armchair, or rather comfy sofa, coaching at the TV.

A friend emailed me prior to the game, knowing the "conflict" of having sons at opposing schools. She wanted to know which side I was going to pick. I emailed back that I was going to hide another my bed until the fray of fur and feathers flying was over. After all, it's just a game, right? *ducking for cover from potential objects being flung by football fans everywhere*
