Ugh, I'm so tired of hearing about Jena Six down here. *rolls eyes* Most of the people don't even get their facts straight. In fact, my U.S. History teacher pronounced the town "Jenna" not "Gee nah". xD
Both sides did wrong in this case. But to say those black kids are innocent is wrong. Hanging nooses from a tree, as much as I hate it, isn't a hate crime because it wasn't directed at anyone specific.
A black kid was assaulted at an all-white party and the white kids got off with nothing but suspensions from the nooses.
A white kid was put into a hospital after being attacked by the six African-American boys, which led to them being in the position they are in now. Facing 20 years in jail for aggravated assault.
Although the white kids deserve to be punished too, the black kids actually do deserve the charges being brought against them.
And the story's wrong too. There were only two nooses, not three. Which dispels the possibility that it was a hate crime directed at the three African-American students who sat under the "White Tree" in the first place.
Aaah, that was a rant and a half. D;
Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.
