The Girl of His Dreams
The rain is falling
As I fall, too.
My heart breaks
As I hit the concrete.
The taillights relentlessly
Go the other way,
The steely red showing no mercy
As I lay in the road
Stretched over the yellow median.
Leaving me,
He’s ending my world right there.
I know it’s impossible
For him to stop,
And he probably won’t even turn.
He’s on his way
Down the road to freedom,
And I’m begging for him to slow down.
I look up and see her,
Waiting at the end of the road.
Her name is Used. Her name is Old.
Her name is Everything He Wants.
I pick myself up
And get out of the way,
Crying my goodbyes.
I’m off to the other direction,
Cold, quiet and alone,
And he’s with the girl of his dreams.
