So, yeah. Next week I start school and I'll be a freshman in high school. I'm a little psyched, since I've got some good classes and I've made a few friends from band, and I've got a brother and his friends to hang out with. Overall, I'm not too nervous. I'm just a little bit afraid of embarrassing myself on the first day. Embarrassing myself like getting lost, but all freshmen tend to do that at one point or another.
..... But I'm planning on taking a map with me and highlighting the locations of my classes...
Unfortunately, there were some issues in the system, so we don't know who our teachers are yet. And since the school's been under construction for the entire summer, we haven't been able to take a good look at it all summer. Orientation today didn't help much. The tour guide didn't know what she was doing. And the stuff the principal was talking to us about was pretty standard, boring, "I already knew this, why are you repeating it?" crap.
So, for my schedule, I'm going to know NOTHING on the first day, until I found out who my homeroom teacher is and get my REAL schedule. Then everything will be hunky-dory. Or whatever.
But my mom already found out a few of my teachers when she went to get my schedule changed (I was going to be going into geometry, but my teacher for algebra was so horrible that I don't feel confidant to go on without re-taking algebra)
So, my mom said that my guidance councilor said that the teacher I was being re-assigned to for my math class for this year is really nice, explains things really well, and for tests and quizzes, if a student does really bad, she goes over the problems with them, lets them re-do the problems, and gives them the NEW, better grade as opposed to the bad/failing grade for the test/quiz.... Now, that's a very good thing. This teacher sounds pretty good.
Next, for history, I've got a teacher that my brother had, and he personally didn't like her, but her class is structured, she teaches pretty well, and my brother even admits that he learned a lot.
For english class, I guess I have a laid-back kind of teacher, but with a pretty structured class, but my councilor thinks that I'd like him.
She thought that the only problem that I'd have would be the sense of humor of my animation graphics/image graphics teacher. Sarcasm. But since I was warned ahead of time, I think I'll be able to deal with sarcastic humor. Besides, the teacher's supposed to be pretty good too.
I think I'm going to have a pretty good freshman year. I got friends (same grade and older grades), good teachers and classes, and a positive attitude. What more do I need?
