---As a Gaian, you are probably interested in all that you can do with your posts on Gaia....on GaiaOnline, you can do many fun and unimportant things to make your post more interesting and unique.
Here is a short list of all the things listed below cover:

-Gee, how do I get gold on Gaia, and what is it for?
Gold is the currency on Gaia, you gain Gold simply by MOVING around Gaia!!!! There are many other ways to make gold much quicker, and it generally involves selling items for alot of gold. This can be done at the "MarketPlace" located in "Isle of Gambino" from the "Map". You need to buy a shop pass first though. sweatdrop
As for the actual use of gold, gold is generally used to buy clothing and other such items for your avatar to wear. Some cost more because they are more rare..supply and demand buddy.
-There are a bunch of buttons below my character's post..what do they do?
Starting from the left, there is your "Profile". Its at the Profile that you are able to customize, and view your Avatar. You are also able to view all your stats, like how many posts you have made. The day you joined Gaia...etc. etc....
There then follows your ability to Trade! At the Gaian Bank, you can buy a Trading Pass which allows you the ability to trade items and gold with other Gaians. Simple and stuff.
THere is also the ability to PM someone. PMing is alot like IMing someone, where you send a "Personal Message" to that specific user. You are limited to having 20 PMs in your PM Box at one time.
The rest is simple info reguarding personal Web sites..Journal name...stuff like that.
There is also your personal Journal. Think of your Gaian Journal as a place to post anything you feel, and if wished, you can have it able to be viewed by other Gaians. You are reading all this in my Person Journal. Get it?!
-One is posting pictures within your posts and sigs. To do this, please follow the tedious step by step description below:
1) Search Google, or any kind of search engine, and save a picture on your computer by right clicking the desired picture and selecting "Save Picture As"...give the pic a name and place it in a folder where you will be able to get it later.
2) Visit photobucket.com and make a user name. Photobucket is a place where a library of your personal pictures are saved for later use.
Now there should be an empty bar in your library called "Add Pictures", this does just as it states! Click "Browse" and it will ask you to select a picture from your computer. Double click on the picture in the folder you saved it in, and hit "submit".
If done correctly, the picture should now show up in photobucket with three different bars underneath it: URL, Tag, IMG
3) Now when you are posting, visit your photobucket library and select everything in "IMG" and Edit/Copy it all. Return to the post and Edit/Paste it all...
Now when you post((if done correctly)) your picture will show up in addition to your typed message! Congradulations...you can now post pics just like the one below!

-It is also possible to set up links to other sites, or other Gaian Forums. This is a bit simpler..but confusing:
1) First Edit/Copy everything that appears in your address bar above. Do this to the address that will bring you to the desired page!
2) When you are posting, select the URL button above, a little bar will appear with "httm//" in it. Erase all of that and Edit/Paste the whole web address in there.
3) Now another similar bar will appear, you will want to type in what the URL link will say, so in the case of the previous link, I typed in "Photobucket.com"....
If done correctly, the whole big link will appear while posting. When posted, everything typed in step 3 will appear, and it will bring you to the page the link is set up to go. Below is how the URL for Photobucket appeared:

This is the same thing as it appears in posting(("Code" wink ): [URL=http://www.photobucket.com/]photobucket.com[/URL]
See how simple it is? Well if you don't then just shut up and continue anyways. xp heart
-Ever wonder how people put those pictures at the bottom of every post they make? That little area is called your "Signature (('Sig' for short))". To access this area:
1) Click on Profile.
2) Click on "Edit Profile"
3) Go down to where it states "Signature" and a large square to its right appears. In here you find you can type font! Everything that is typed in here will appear on your personal Signature underneath every post you make!
4) Post pictures, links, or simple sentances into the square. The way to make pictures is no different than the ways expressed above. See their Codes to know how it should look.
5) When you are done, simply click "Submit" near the bottom of the Edit Profile page. Assuming there is less type than it will allow...and there IS A LIMIT!..Then it will save your entrys to your profile!
There is a web site that will allow you to take the long font and make it smaller! It is called
tinyURL.com
-Now it is important to know that many different colors exist other than the ones that appear in "Font Colour:" above. Here is how font will look with color over it:

And the code: [color=orange]...This color is orange...[/color]
As you see above, "color=orange" is what tells the font to appear orange! But did you know that if you were to delete the word "orange" from the code and place in a different color, that it will turn that color? AND DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE EXISTS MANY OTHER COLORS THAN THE ONES PROVIDED?!!!

-Did you know that you can have a larger variety of font sizes as well? The following is one sentance written in different fonts, and their cooresponding sizes under them((in code form)). Each size is changed the same way like color is changed, but with numbers rather than colors.

-This is normal-sized font, as you see below, size=12 is the number that defines "Normal-sized Font".

-as you see, this font is slightly smaller! That is because it is size=10 rather than 12!! This variation of size can be applied to all font sizes no matter what number((except for anything larger than "Huge"((size=24)).

-although it maybe a little hard to read now, but it is in the size=1 form! This is the smallest size and is useful when the color=white is used to spread secret messages to friends without anyone else knowing you are doing it! xp

-Did you know that you can "Align" your type and pics in different places on your posts? This can give an interesting effect to your posts in general!

--as you see, this type is located on the left part of the post and works it's way to the right. This is normal.

--whats this?!!! I do believe my type is now located in the middle of the post. This is because I surrounded the type with ¢er& ...a nifty little trick that brings your posts to the center.

Although I am not entirely sure how to do this, it appears some pictures can be placed to align the right side of the post! This is shown by this individual's pic which aligns the right side of her posts. I believe this could only be done with pictures. AND NOT TYPE...too bad. Her name is "Sammie-Chan":

Indeed it does work!!!!! Only pictures are able to do this sadly. Here is the code for MY picture done this way! I took it from Photobucket and removed the IMG surroundings. Alot of work, but a possible useful effect:

-Gaia tends to have a large scale of different lingo! That is they all use "code words" to represent specific things. Here are a list of some and their definitions:
Bump ="Bring Up My Post"...simply it is just some way to keep threads high above near the top with the other threads you will discover in "Forum". ((If someone does not post after a while, other "active" threads will bury the inactive thread away from the first page. The most popular threads remain on page one! )) You as the Gaian can "Bump" a thread whenever you want! Really any word will work, as long as it's a post...but Bump has become the favored word above all else.
domokun = this little critter is part of a popular Japanese kids show. He is a domo..and he does stuff... sweatdrop People use domos just for randomness...or if you want to "eat" an admired post or person.
ex: buttstabber101= Look at my sexyness!!!! ^^
domoeater=GAH! WE EAT YOUR DELICIOUSNESS!!!!! domokun domokun
teh sects ="The sex!" Its the result of quick typing. teh instead of the...and sects sounds like sex! What it means is "That is definitely the best!! Its just sexy! It is TEH SECTS!!!!!!!
k ="Kilo((1000))" If ever you see someone post something such as:
"Yeah, that b***h gave me 14k for the pic, what a stupid s**t head! xp "
You can be sure it has something to do with gold! In the example above, "14k" actually means "Fourteen THOUSAND ((14,000))"..and represents gold! If someone will give you an item for 10k, you better be ready to trade 10,000 gold for the item!!
pure ="Pure" This term is generally used in the "Gaian Exchange" where pure means "pure gold". Come to understand the best thing about the Gaian Exchange is that people can gain an expensive/rare item through value rather than just gold. You can gain an expensive item if you trade three september letters, four Kitsune Masks, and a Kandy Korn Hat, instead of just pure gold like in the Market Place.
SO if ever you see someone offer rare items in addition to "Pure", they are giving pure gold in addition to items!
l337 ="leet" l337 is the typing skill where the individual uses numbers, symbols, or unecessary capitalized letters to replace common letters.
Ex./ "H3T w0tz uP?" (("Hey whats up?" wink )
AnarchyPaladin Leet Speak as it's called comes from the term "Elite". It was used by "Elite" videogame players as a way to taunt people using new words. Since "Elite Speak" sounds so lame, they changed it to "leet" speak, which can easily be spelled with 1337.
Mules =A "mule" is a character that has been created by a pre-existing Gaian member to hold extra gold, items, etc which can be accessed if ever the pre-existing member is hacked, kicked offline, or deleted for various other reasons.
In order to create a mule, go to Yahoo.com and start a fake email address. Then from there its exactly the same as when you first created your character..but be sure to use the fake email instead of yours.
NOTE: Mules are VERY illegal, and are simply not allowed on Gaia. If you are found to be using a mule on Gaia, both that mule AND any previous accounts associated with that mule shall be deleted permenantly from Gaia. Take caution in any mule-like activity.
nooB ="New bee" There exists many different definitions for nooB, and many different ways to spell it. Below is the two main definitions that describe nooBs:
1) newB =Some one who is a newB is simply a new person. Many an argument has been made to determine when someone is no longer a newB, but I will state the one I believe.
You are no longer a newB if you either make over 1000 posts, OR is you prove knowlegable of Gaia and it's many functions((your welcome for this very knowlegable section of Gaian stuff...I know I am the best! xp heart ))....until then you are simply a newB. A new person...
2) nooB =I PERSONALLY CURSE THIS TYPE OF GAIANS TO THE DEEPEST...DARKEST...DEPTS OF HELL!!! scream
You might be wondering why the simple mention of this term might cause such rage by a nice and mild-mannered individual as myself? It is not the term that drives me to insanity...ITS THE PRODUCT THAT COMES WITH IT'S LABEL!!! stare
nooBs make up not only new gaians..but stupid, ignorant, and AGGERVATING ones as well! As Gaia grows, so does the number of nooBs! This is only the very tip of the iceburge, the following is info that helps classify nooBs:
EvEr sEWa pUrPLe TlK lieK ThiS?...and: Y34h! 5ur3! L37'5 g3t 2 it! ((ever see people talk like this?...and: Yeah sure let's get to it!))...nooBs seem to find humor in making their posts completely illegiable and mind-nummingly stupid as it appears as previous.
A good sign of a nooB is someone who makes posts that have way too many PURPOSELY MADE misspells and format-lacking sentances((I know, I am a horrable speller but I am absent from such classifications simply because most of what I say actually does make sense. So go ******** yourself! xp domokun heart heart )). Also be aware that some people might be from other countries, or is illiterate. These people might be trying to say something informative, friendly, or intelligent but can't. Please give these exceptions respect and patience for they are only trying to have a nice conversation like the rest of us.
ALso, nooBs are the type of people who are simply a** holes for no reason at all. They will question and disrespect your opinions in hoping to acieve some higher self-respect through diminishing yours. The best way to deal with these nooBs is to not give them such attention they are craving, for they will eventually be shown as the ignorant and pathedic individuals as they are.
There has been a recent newer strand of nooBs that are appearing around Gaia that has been aggervating friendly Gaian members for quite some time..they have been dubbed by me as the "Poser Goth nooBs"!!!
These nooBs are the Gaians who suddenly appear in forums, then complain when no one says "Hi" to them. What they are is what I personally believe most Goths now a days are, pathedic nerds who are looking for attention they do not deserve.
You will see such nooBs dress their avi with as many rare items as they can, even if they do not go well together. They will also wear black cloths and submit strange, boring, and most of all SHALLOW poetry about "how depressed they are, and how good it feels when they slit their wrists...bla bla bla..." The most dissapointing thing about this type of nooB is they make the "real suicidal individuals" seem like a joke, and should not be taken seriously.
To help defeat this breed of bitchy, whiney, pathedic attention-grabbing LOSERS is to simply ignore them. Most people won't stick to such tacticts as "Poser Goth NooBism" if they do not get any attention, because they in reality have nothing else to make of themselves other than their false appearance and lies about suicide! TOGETHER WE CAN END POSER GOTH NOOBSISM ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!! scream (( xd heart ))
Questing ="Saving gold for..." People who attend Gaia find many ways to entertain themselves. One way is through "Questing", or "Saving gold" for items of extremely high price and value. Because it is close to holloween when I edited this definition here((10-23-04)), alot of Gaian seem to be questing for Jacked-up items..rare last year's Holloween items. These items seem to be going for as much as 450k((450,000gold))!!! If you have patience and determination, then quest yourself for the highest priced items...but be sure it is a good, or reasonable deal! You might be getting scammed!

The most expensive item is the [cornflowerblue=yellow]"Halo" , worth a good 10,000k((there is only about 200 of them on Gaia..maybe less!!!))!!!!!!
"tubgirl"= Tub girl is just as it says, a girl..in a tub...doing..bad..stuff...on her...face. sweatdrop It is a commonly used pic by "thread trolls" and such. Very discusting and annoying. Some argue tubgirl has become the new phrase that sums up all content used in such a manner.
"Troll"= A troll is an individual whom finds great enjoyment in purposly posting in incorrect forums content that is offencive, degrating or quite honestly pointless..for the sole purpose of getting a negative, flaming response. See "attention whore" as a synonem for such a person. Common tactics of a troll is that of:
-Starting a topic that at first appears normal..but posting "tubgirl", or random pointlessness within it's contents.
-Purposly starting a topic that belongs in another forum, leaving others to assume this troll is simply an ignorant nooB. Most will work to keep others explaining as to why their topic needs to be moved, strictly meant to be annoying.
-Making posts that stretch out an entire page both horizonally and vertically, so as to disrupt and annoy the common poster in that thread.
-Other such annoyances..including PMs and "False" Trades.
-Faces!!! With your keyboard, you can create little faces to entertain others!!! Here are some common faces:

-"Strike"
A "strike" is a simple black line that goes through your words. They are generally related to the Exchange Forum where the buying Gaians are aware that THAT particular item is no longer avalable..hence "striken out".
