Of momentumn and indefinite, but paranoid, rivalry...
So I finally added more to my novel, so Drake had stopped driving me nuts. Now I'm pretty much back into the momentumn of writing. So, the novel's still coming along, although slowly.

But here's the indefinite rivalry.

You see, a few months ago, a friend of mine (Megan) got back in contact with someone we knew in elementary school. Let's just call him Fred.

You see, when Fred was around in school, he and Megan were really good friends, but nobody else really liked him that much, because "he's just mean" and stuff like that. But I never really knew what they meant. I liked Fred.

But then he moved away and Megan, who had a crush on him, told him that she liked him in one of the letters they had exchanged. According to her, he freaked out and didn't contact her until yeard later, so until he did, she was all, "In high school, I'm sooo gonna kick his a**." And we agreed. Because we didn't really like him either.

So a few months ago, he contacted Megan, apologizing for being a jerk, and this struck me as REALLY suspicious. Suddenly, after all these years, he contacts Megan and apologizes?

At first I thought it was some internet pervert trying to get her, but when they contacted by phone, it was confirmed that it really was him. Sounded like him, and he has some vids up on youtube, and it looks like him. So my theory was flushed down the drain, and I'm actually glad. I mean, I'd rather a long lost friend contact one of my best friends as opposed to an online pervert!

So later on, she gave him my email and he contacted me. I thought that was pretty cool, and he seemed pleasant enough. He asked me what I was recently up to, and I told him about my novel. He responded in a way that kind of surprised me.

He was all, "Umm, 99.99 percent of teens who are writing novels never finish them, blah blah blah, but if you manage to finish it in ten years, then good for you biggrin "

I guess I'm going to have to get used to this kind of critisism, but this just got me angry. Who was he to say that I probably wouldn't even FINISH my novel?!?

But of course, I go all cool and calm and I don't e-mouth-off at him. I just sort of laugh it off, calmly telling him that this thing is my life and that I'm not giving up on it. So, he humors me, going all, "Okay, whatever" and changing the subject. Then we go on the topic of singing.

As long as I've known him, I've known that he likes to sing and is pretty good at it. I also tell him about what I've accomplished with singing so far and what I've been doing and how I don't want classes because I like to learn things myself. Then he goes on saying that I won't be able to learn to sing properly without a teacher.

Uh, dude... I've got a freaking musical genius living in my house. He's the type of person who'd be good to give me any tips with, like, pitch or something. Sure, I may not be able to have as strong of a singing voice as Fred, but I still have a good voice and love to sing!

Now here's the thing that totally set me off. Sometime later, he mentions that he also decided to start writing a novel.

So, he told me the idea he has for it, and I have to admit, it was okay. Not really what I, personally, would read, but it sounded like a good idea for a storyline.
So, he asked me to read the prologue that he's written.

Maybe it's just my ego or something, but while it was okay, there was just something about it that I didn't really like. I can't describe it, so in my reply, I didn't mention it. I just told him that I think he's off to a good start. Then he mentioned that he needed to start getting a schedule together for writing, which it actually a good idea for writing.

But the thing is, that was a month or so ago, and I'm kinda freaking out. What if he finishes his book before I finish mine? What if he publishes it and gets the fame that I've envisioned for myself before I publish mine? Or what if he goes to a publisher that gives him more fame than the one that I'll go to?

But worst of all...

If he finishes his before I finish mine, when I DO finish mine, will everyone think that I was just copying him? Will I get less fame because I published mine AFTER he published his? What if they all think that the title of "youngest bestselling authors" goes to him??

AAAAHHH!!!!!!

I keep telling myself that I have to calm down, but I'm freaking out. This novel is my life, and if someone else takes the glory, I'm gonna be, well, really disappointed, to say in the least.

So you can see why the title of this entry is about indefinite, but paranoid, rivalry.

If anyone has some advice to help me to calm down, PLEASE TELL ME!!!!!!

Well, I'm going to my Nonni's house this evening. And for those of you who aren't Italian, Nonni is just another name for your grandmother.

See ya laterz!
