It was 3:00 in the afternoon. The breeze was blowing gently upon my face. I stood at the doorway, patiently waiting for someone...unaware of the scene about to unfold...
A young girl uniform came into the view. Let’s call her Emily a.k.a. The One Who Always Waits. A man in a white polo shirt, black tie and black pants calls out to her. His name is Drew a.k.a. The One Who Always Makes Her Wait.
and Steph the best friend of Emily...
“Emily! Hi!” He says.
“Hello Drew!” Emily responds. “What’s up? What are you still doing here?”
“I...I...” Drew trails off. About 3 feet away, another guy approaches, wearing a blue and white student uniform. He didn’t expect this. He feels like his heart is breaking all over again because he knows what will happen next. He’s known as Celric a.k.a. The One Desperately Wanting To Be The One For Her. But he’s not. That fact is now rubbing itself in his face, gloating at him. Reality bites. Too bad he can’t bite it back. All he could do is continue walking towards them. He can hope all he wants but it’s obviously useless. She won’t choose him.
“Do you want to tell me something, Drew?” Emily asks.
“Yes,” He replied quickly. “I’m not good at this. But I need you to know how I feel.” He pauses. “Before I leave.”
Emily was speechless. It has been 4 years! Finally, it has happened! She wanted to tell him she felt the same but decided against it. She couldn’t cut him off. So she calmly listened to him.
“Now you know. I just need to finish this thing...then I can come back. I know 2 years is too long...but can you wait for me just a little longer?” Drew pleads as he admitted to Emily all the feelings he has suppressed for so long. He waited for her answer with baited breath.
“Yes.” Emily’s answer was barely audible. Drew wasn’t sure if he heard it.
“Thank you.” Emily continues. “Thank you for finally telling me how you feel. Thank you for not being torpe for the first time in your entire life and thank you for letting me know that I wasn’t waiting in vain.”
Celric world seems to have fallen. He turns away.
Drew seemed paralyzed. He couldn’t move a muscle. So Steph stepped in. “In case you didn’t know, that was a yes,” Steph politley said...then Steph stepped back as Drew enveloped Emily in his arms.
They were both so happy! Steph felt euphoric at the thought...like the last sakura blossom trembling as the wind carries it away. It was the end of a very long journey and the beginning of a new one. A journey where no one will ever be alone again. I walk away...music plays in the background as everything began to fade...
