Vickicat's Journal
A daily journal about stuff.
July 4, 2007
We went to my other grandparents' house for Fourth of July. We're rarely home for the Fourth, so it's kind of weird since usually we go to this same place in Georgia each year, thought there was that time when we were in Miami. That was the year things started going bad for my dad's parents, and we had to go there quickly, and now, several years later, at the same time of year one of them died. I really don't like this day very much anymore. I'm just glad it's something dumb like Fourth of July that was messed up for me, and not something like Christmas. But it's one of those things now that I'm probably going to think about every year at this time. But anyway, it rained, that's another thing about the Fourth of July. It always rains. No matter where we are that day, it seems to rain. I know it rained last year. I'm pretty sure there have been years where it didn't rain, but it seems more often it does rain. And it wasn't just raining here, it rained in New Jersey too. Kaz went to see fireworks both yesterday and today and he had to stand out in the rain too. Anyway, here, it was at least a light rain, so I just stood out there without an umbrella or anything, but the ground was all wet and my feet got wet. We were trying to watch the fireworks that they set up at Lake Eola from my grandparents' backyard. Apparently they can be seen from there, since they live pretty close to downtown. But we stood out there forever and didn't see them. But there were people around the lake my grandparents live on setting some off, and there were actually the good kind, so we watched those. There was a dumb tree in the way so I went into the neighbor's backyard and stood on their dock and had a great view from there. But then my feet got bit by mosquitoes so I eventually gave up my view and then ended up going inside. A few minutes later they announced on TV that the Lake Eola fireworks were starting. Finally. I went back outside again but there were way too many trees and you could barely see them, so we ended up watching it on TV and I really only half paid attention because watching them on TV isn't as good. Afterwards, I don't know what they were doing. We had already eaten dinner and watched the fireworks and whatever so I just went upstairs and used my computer, even though Kaz wasn't on. And when I was in the hallway upstairs, Tommy started staring at something behind and above me. When a cat stares like that, I always look, because it means something is there, and often it's something unpleasant. Well it was a spider. Right above me. Big and ugly, and Tommy was fascinated. I yelled at it was there, and my grandma came. I thought she was going to kill it like any sensible person would, but she's not a sensible person. She's crazy. She said to leave it alone because it ate other bugs. It was huge and brown and most likely poisonous, and she wanted to keep it there, or try to catch it and put it outside. My uncle argued with her over it and it was just a mess. I tried to kill it when she wasn't looking but the cat was in the way so my uncle said he would kill it later. I wonder if he ever did. I was afraid it would bite someone and then I'd lose another grandparent. Of course, this set of grandparents isn't as nice as the others, and is crazy, as made obvious, which made me feel worse, because my other grandma cared a lot about me, but my mom's mom really doesn't. She's too crazy, and she loves my other cousins more and does everything for me, and I pretty much get ignored. I'm pretty mad at her now, and I don't think I'm going to go over there for a long time. I'm sick of her being crazy and weird about everything.

It didn't really rain here when we put on fireworks, but It rained a few hours before so everything was still wet.
I'm really sorry about your grandma, I'm going to get you something to cheer you up when I go to Charleston in 2 days. Apparently they have this really cool Flea Market, so I'll get your birthday present there too. ^_^
