After Jenna went home last night, me and Rachel were on our computers, and my mom was watching some movie but neither of us were very interested in watching it. Smoky had been around earlier, Jenna and Rachel were trying to get him to come over to them and saying he was cute and stuff. Now he was lying on the couch so I went and sat next to him and was petting him. He meowed some then got up. When he did he was walking funny, so I followed him and he went in another room and lay on the floor on his side and started meow and it just sounded awful, like he was really hurt. And he just kind of looked at me and kept meowing like that. It was awful. The only thing I could think of was that the vets had done something wrong when they cleaned his teeth, or gave us something that hurt him, the medicine or something was doing something awful to him. So my mom called the emergency vet, and Rachel had to leave in a hurry. We took him there and when we got there we had to wait forever. I was afraid he would die or something while we were waiting. We left the house at 9:30 PM and didn't get back home until 3:30 AM. First we had to wait in the main waiting room for several hours. There were some other people waiting there, eventually one group left and had to leave their pet there over night, the other was there the whole time we were, maybe even longer, waiting for them to help their dog. After a while they had us go in the back to one of the rooms with a table but we still had to wait a really long time, at least another hour, before the vet came in. First someone came and took him to yet another room to take his temperature and I could hear his screams. They brought him back and he just lay down again. Usually he tries to escape from the vet or hide in his carrier, but all he did was just lie there except when people tried to pick him up, then he growled and stuff like he usually does. When the vet finally came in she ended up having to put a leash on him since he kept trying to go under the bench and I had to grab him with a towel and stuff. She listened to his heart and took hi back for x rays and showed us the x rays on the computer. Apparently his heart is enlarged but they don't know if that was what was causing this or not. There wasn't anything else they could do but give us some pain pills and tell us to take him to the regular vet in the morning. They had put him on some drugs to get the x rays too because he's so bad when he's at the vet and the whole rest of the night he acted trippy. It scared me though because of how he'd been acting before, and I didn't know what was caused by the drugs and what was caused by whatever was wrong with him. When we got him home he wouldn't leave the kitchen. He just stayed in the same area and wouldn't go past the stove. His eyes were dilated and he kept staring at things that weren't there. I stayed up nearly the whole night watching him and making sure nothing happened to him, until I finally just fell asleep, only to wake up about two hours later to have to take him to the other vet. We took him there and I nearly fell asleep waiting for that vet, but the wait there was nothing like the one the night before. Again, nothing was really done for him. I think this vet was a bit scared of him, and I had to grab him with the towel and put him up on the counter and stuff. My mom is scared of him too. I'm pretty much the only one who wasn't afraid of him. He gets pretty pissy at the vet. All they did was once again listen to his heart to make sure it wasn't doing anything weird. It's frustrating that they don't do anything more for him, but he's seemed okay today. Almost normal, but I'm still scared.
