I've read the Warcraft: Lord of the Clans and it was painful. I really don't understand how can anybody mess up orcs, but Ms. Christie Golden had successfully managed to do it.
So, we have Thrall, who is quite a neat character in Warcraft 3, but in this book, he's a Stu. A bloody Stu. I mean, he was quite uber in the game too, but in the game it wasn't so Stu-ey. You have to be uber to rule such a lot of orcs after all. In the book, he's given an angsty past of DOOM, which doesn't affect him like it should. I mean, with that kind of a past the guy'd have to be a helluva paranoid bugger with issues like a mountain, not a charismatic leader! Urgh.
Plus the main bad guy is alcoholic and women beater, which is stereotypical liek whoa!
In general, I think it would have been a lot better if Blizzard had actually made Warcraft Adventure. I doubt they would present Warcraft fans with such a lousy plot.
