we walked back into the woods on public land; the trail was muddy and slick with spots of ice. we had to hop across many stepping stones, and nearly fell in some streams. it was tiring, although the landscape was ruggedly beautiful with little streams and giant boulders, budding saplings and fresh green herbs.
suddenly, in a twinkling, we came to our goal, the waterfall! it was enormous, slashing at a right angle actoss our path, hundred of feet high, roaring, foaming, sensing showers of rainbow spray high over our heads. what a sight!
all the mud and scrapes and bruises were forgotten.
we laughed out loud, it was so exciting.
